2015-16 Ohio State Quarterback Discussion

Ohio State since 02 has had maybe 3 years in which they didn't have solid quarterbacking in play: 04, 07, 11.

2002-03: Krenzel (NC & 2 BCS wins)
2004: muddy waters early with a mix of Smith vs Zwick
2005-06: Smith (Heisman)
07: Boeckman (effecient enough to get us to the NC)
08-10: Pryor (could have been a legend)
11: Bauseran & Miller mix
12-13: Miller (B1G POY x2)
14: Barrett & Jones (one got OSU back to #6 and won the division, the other won the conference and the NC).

We have been very blessed to have great talent at the QB position for over 12 years!

08-10: Pryor (could have been a legend)

Indeed, as Ohio State ***would have defeated*** the team up north (4) years in a row. And Braxton almost beat "them" (3) years in a row, so I'm reluctant to ever say anything negative about him. Ohio State has soooo much talent you almost expect the sky to fall on them this year.

Oh wait, the sky did fall on them last year and they still won the NC !!! :urban2:

Life is good!

Watching Film Room, a lot of it was Eze and scheme against Oregon. They had no answer to our D containing the edge and stuffing their run game. That led to quick turn-arounds (their tempo working for us) with their D exhausted instead of ours, and finally their D had no answer to the unbalanced formations - out of which Herman ran Counter as if it was DAVE.
By the end Narduzzi and Mason are straight dogging Oregon's defense, predicting about 75% of our plays, and outlining the adjustments Oregon failed to make. Herman was able to be super predictable and take the game out of Cardale's hands (after 2 fumbles) because Oregon couldn't stop the train to save their lives.

Against Alabama, it was a different story. Cardale's arm combined with multiple receivers (everyone knew about Devin) having more speed than Saban and Kirby realized put their secondary under siege opening up the run. Him taking on guys like Landon Collins and destroying their dreams did a lot too.
Alabama was definitely the bigger challenge of the two, and by far Cardale's better game imo.

Narduzzi was damn near apoplectic that Billy Price's rear end was deeper than everyone else and tipping that he was going to pull, and Oregon did nothing. This is what made Film Room so awesome these last two seasons. Narduzzi pointed it out in the third quarter, by the fourth quarter Price was so far off the line the linesman probably could have flagged OSU for five men in the backfield every time they ran the counter.

I am convinced we win it all with any of the 3..just 3 different game plans. Only Kyle thought CJ was leading us to a title after the scUM game. But I do recall UFM winning a title with Leak and a Freshman who couldn't throw anything but a Jump pass. Miller JT Cardale> that duo.

Again, just want to reiterate it's amazing how many games you win when the other team doesn't score. Carry on ...

One more thing.
Does anyone think it was just Zeke hitting his stride that allowed him to rush for over 200yds against Wiscy, Alabama and Oregon?
It was the weapon at QB. Cardale with the ability to bomb away from anywhere on the field.

Don't forget the improvement of the O Line and blocking by the TE and receivers. Improved O Line also afforded CJ more time to allow receivers to get open downfield that JT wasn't getting throughout a lot of the season and the reason Elliott wasn't getting the big holes at the line of scrimmage. I just thought the Offense improved drastically the last 3 games of the year for whatever reason.

1 Trevone Boykin, TCU - A killer through the air and on the ground, Boykin’s got more Heisman buzz than anyone entering this offseason and was our easy choice for No. 1.

>

Don't claim to be an expert, but watched most of the WV game and Boykin looked like crap. 12-30 for 166 yards. WV had 5 turnovers and went into prevent defense at the beginning of the 4th quarter which is why they lost 31-30.

#1 QB in college football ?!? as idiot Lee Corso says ~ Not so fast my friend ...

ok, ok, TCU scored 82 against Texas Tech so Boykin is obviously the second comin' er the best thing since sliced bread and ice cream.

btw, Boykin ranked 25th in passing efficiency!

Trey Scott is a fool and why is anyone listening to him? Rhetorical.

hmm, more Heisman buzz than Zeke? I digress.
