2015-16 Ohio State Quarterback Discussion

Problem is he won't be ready for the combine. I don't think he will be throwing the ball with any kind of force until summer.

I should've been more specific. I didn't mean throwing at the combine. If he's my son, I tell him to keep working on the arm, keep conditioning, blow up the the non-throwing elements of the combine, enter the draft, and worry about trying to play qb later. The NFL may be moving toward more dynamic, mobile qbs and if he's on a roster and can help a team, he'll get a shot. In the meantime, he has a relatively small window to get paid to play football, he already has a kid, and he's injury prone. Get in the league, make some money, and see what happens. Don't risk that opportunity trying to play qb for tOSU or any other college team for free at this point.

Well not being able to throw anywhere for a second straight offseason after already being injury prone (and not suited for a switch to RB at all) will kill his draft stock (which was flawed before the injuries).

Terrelle is a lot healthier and has not really been valued by anyone outside of the disastrous raiders.

Already giving up on next year?

If he came back right after the bowl game and can still throw, he starts next year no question. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like he will be able to do anything until fall camp at best. In the mean time JT will be getting all the snaps at practice and focus from the coaches. Braxton will be coming in very rusty. It's going to be an uphill battle, and regardless of whoever gets the nod the media will be poised to jump on the backup bandwagon at any slip up.

I think from a football perspective he'd be better off transferring. The problem is there are other variables, like family, friends, coaches, etc...

Braxton doesn't leave.

That being said, I could very well see an offense that features Braxton in certain situations and formations. If you run him in the same formations that you currently are running Jalin then you have an even more potent arm taking the snap with the ability to pull it back and throw a pass. Imagine the options you'd have with Braxton, Jalin and JT on the field at the same time? Who's getting the ball? 3 guys could legitimately throw a pass. Who do we key? How do you focus on all of them? Then you realize you have a Junior Wilson on the field, EzE, Michael Thomas and whichever standout frosh ends up on the scene next season.

Having 2 AVERAGE QBs is like having no QBs. Having 2 EXCELLENT QBs is like getting a BJ from Eva Longoria.

This is where I'm at.

If Urban Meyer wants to leave another mark on college game (outside of his power spread offense), it could be developing the most devastating 2 QB system known to mankind MUAHAHAHAHA.

Now maybe it's a stretch, maybe it's video game fantasy, but maybe it's legitimately possible with Braxton Miller and JT Barrett. There is an opportunity to incorporate a second QB with Braxton's skill set into the offense, without negatively affecting its efficiency or adding complexity for the heck of it. You really don't have to deviate that far to get to an offense where Braxton-JT can be on the field at the same time.

I was on the "Braxton Miller starts no matter what" bandwagon because he had proven to be the most versatile weapon with the best ability to run the offense. Then JT went out and hit many throws that Herman either didn't call for Miller or Miller didn't make. I still think Miller has elite arm strength and has 3 years of playing experience.

I hope we find a way to use both. I love both as QBs and would like to see them both excel. I don't know how to do it, but I'd sure love to see it. I don't know if Miller's shoulder will ever be the same or not, but I hope it will be. He has a cannon when healthy.

I just don't think we can afford to transition to another QB for next year. As stated Braxton can't throw until the fall so by that point it'll be nearly two years since he will have seen game action. That coupled with JT getting all the spring/fall reps and how does anyone start Braxton on the road at night against Va tech first game?

For me it has less to do with their performances (although I'd still give JT the nodd in that department) but more to do with who will be the most sharp and ready come our first game. Imagine if we play Braxton blindly the first game and he goes 12 of 23 for 205 yards or something and we lose. No way Urban will jeopardize our whole season because he likes Braxton

I think what we will have at QB, is a two headed monster next year!!

A two QB system would help keep an injury proned Braxton healthy.

Next year lets watch Braxton's dynamic runs....AND lets watch J.T. torch defenses through the air!

GO BUCKS

That doesnt sound realistic. Its near impossible to sub QBs constantly. If JT has a hot hand, no way you sit him especially since he can run too. We tried that to a lesser extent with Boeckman and Pryor and ended up rolling with Pryor. Qbs need to get in a rhythm, its hard to get that if you have to keep leaving the game

And yes Braxton has a cannon arm but he's not very accurate. Cannon without accuracy= below average qb play and losing against good teams

Didn't even think about that. JT will have his revenge.
