FSU? Really?
Well, I was thinking a team on probation ...

I think a grad transfer is probably the best move. At the same though I just don't see him transferring. Don't see Braxton leaving his son or taking him very far from home.
I'm typically in the camp of "if you have 2 QBs, you don't have any QBs", but I'm in favor of a dual QB offense. It'd be pretty nasty. Assuming Braxton's shoulder isn't jello...
I think from a football perspective he'd be better off transferring. The problem is there are other variables, like family, friends, coaches, etc...

Braxton doesn't leave.

That being said, I could very well see an offense that features Braxton in certain situations and formations. If you run him in the same formations that you currently are running Jalin then you have an even more potent arm taking the snap with the ability to pull it back and throw a pass. Imagine the options you'd have with Braxton, Jalin and JT on the field at the same time? Who's getting the ball? 3 guys could legitimately throw a pass. Who do we key? How do you focus on all of them? Then you realize you have a Junior Wilson on the field, EzE, Michael Thomas and whichever standout frosh ends up on the scene next season.

Having 2 AVERAGE QBs is like having no QBs. Having 2 EXCELLENT QBs is like getting a BJ from Eva Longoria.

Not many programs would take a QB that can't practice until halfway through Fall Camp... chances are he'd get beat out at any major programs (like the aforementioned FSU) just b/c the other guy is able to take snaps all through Spring and Fall. Then again, Wisconsin and Yips. Most of those places will not have great protection or surrounding cast... they'd lean on him to put them on his back and win games. He can do it for sure, but at what cost to his health again?
If he's open to switching positions... don't see the point in transferring at all. He'd get more than enough touches to impress NFL scouts at Ohio State, but not so many as to get ran into the ground and injured again. OLine should be that much better next year with 4 returning starters and another year for the recent recruits.

The absolute last thing he should do is transfer. He's historically injury-prone and will be trying to come back from a surgery with a year and a half layoff. Braxton needs to declare for the draft, wow them at the combine, and move on playing whatever position will get him paid. Another year here or somewhere else isn't going to suddenly make him an nfl qb.

The Heisman Pundit (Chris Huston) tweeted the following in light of JT Barrett's performance Saturday and the MNF game last night.

The solution to Ohio State's quarterback quandary next year is to play both QBs in the backfield at the same time at all times.

Ideally, every skill player on offense should be able to run, pass and catch. That's the next wave.

One day a team will use 4 QBs, or multiple players who can pass the ball. The position need not be tied up with one high-salaried guy.

Clearly, the solution next season is to play Barrett at QB, Braxton at H/RB, Cardale at TE, and motion Jalin Marshall pre-snap.

Problem is he won't be ready for the combine. I don't think he will be throwing the ball with any kind of force until summer.

Um, hes not an NFL caliber QB anyway. His best bet is RB or WR like Hairlice Robinson, Brad Smith, Randle El, etc. His arm barely won us Big 10 games last year, the teams he barely could throw against last year, JT is torching through the air.

And lets not kid ourselves. The kid has some amazing running ability. It's not like Tebow who was a FB with an arm.

If he wanted to, he has the talent to make it at the next level at a skill position other than QB.

Braxton is and always has been a loyal Buckeye, (I could be wrong as I have no inside knowledge) but I don't see him even thinking about transferring. Besides if he hasn't graduated he'd have to sit out another year.

P.S. Fortunately his surgery was on his right shoulder, i.e. no scars on the tattoo.8D
