2014 NFL (Well, Browns, so, sorta "NFL") Draft Thread

not a browns fan but my take on the draft. Sammy Watkins at 4, him and Gordan would be insane 1 and 2 combo at WR. Johnny Manziel, Blake Bortles or Derek Carr at 26 if they think he can be the guy, one will be there more likely Carr. If not Eric Ebron or Jace Jamaro, I know TE isn't a "need" but think of the 2 WR 2 TE sets Gordan and Watkins at WR then Cameron and Jace/Ebron, wow thats some playmakers at the skill spots. Heck I could throw the ball to those guys and be half decent. Then in R2 and R3 you can get a good RB and if they go with one of the TEs and QB like McCarron. Just my 2 cents.

At this point I don't really want Bortles either. I just can't see a QB worth a shit in this draft. Hold off, improve the offense and the defense. I would like another playmaker, a running back and perhaps a RG. Then ILB and maybe another CB. Build the team and let Hoyer hold the reigns until we identify a franchise QB, whom by that time, we have some additional talent around him and not be so overwhelmed.

like I said "if they think he can be the guy"
Not a huge fan of them but I wouldn't beat against Johnny Football and I like Bortles potential.

With no running game and defenses that are multiple levels higher than what he ever faced in the SEC, I'd bet against Johnny Hatecrime every day.

Same with Bortles, but at least Bortles ran a somewhat more realistic NFL-style offense in college.

Manziel is a poor mans Cutler.

He might throw 4 TDs one week and look good winning a game, but he will always come back the next week and throw 4 INTs and look like garbage in an embarrassing loss.

These embarrassing losses will tend to stack up at the end of the season and in the playoffs. Putting together a series of games without a 4 INT clunker will be next to impossible for him in the NFL and therefor, any team that drafts him will never make a playoff run.

I really do not see how we can be talking about which QB they might take without knowing who the HC is going to be because a lot will depend upon his offensive philosophy. I am starting to lean towards taking Sammy Watkins as our first pick and a ILB with the second pick. I am not enthralled with any of the QB's and you never know maybe they have a sleeper:lol: that they can pick in the third or fourth round

And if someone has taken Watkins by #4, trade down (won't happen, this ownership/FO group will be desperate after botching the coaching situation) or take care of the ILB position by drafting Khalil Mack....

Hey Banner get your head out of your ass and fire Lombardi and give Farmer the full-time GM job before you lose him. Maybe then we can get a HC and some decent draft picks. I mean you did call Farmer a up-and-coming rising star when you hired him last year.

Mack is a blessed pass rusher. He's your 'joker'. Putting 20lbs on him and
forcing him to drop into coverage more than rush the QB is a disservice
to your defensive scheme.

I can only imagine how this team would look had we taken Warmack instead of Mingo and invested in a pass rusher this year. (Barr, Clowney, Mack).
