Espn didn't need to wage a war on tressel. He brought that stuff on himself and you guys are much better off without him. If they did wage war on him, they were helping you guys out.This is what you don't understand - most Big Ten fans don't want to be talked up. They want to be on the same plane as everyone else. That has decidedly not been the case since 2006 and perhaps earlier.
This very forum has gone into great detail about ESPiN's war against Tressel in 2004. It's not a new thing. Add to that ESPiN's lowball offer to the B1G in the 2005 timeframe that essentially launched the BTN all by itself, and there you go.
It's not about Fox talking up the B1G or whoever, it's about ESPiN not being able to separate its journalistic enterprise from its business motives.
Fox doesn't have the power for it to matter if they talk up a conference or team. Hell, when Paul finebaum started saying with about three weeks left in the season that he had OSU in his top four, people started listening, and that's a dude in the radio that has never played a snap and is basically a football version of Jerry springer.
