Is he referring to TCU as a real challenge? I think the idea behind putting TCU at #20 in preseason rankings was so that they could elevate LSU's schedule by 'beating an out of conference ranked team.' I'm surprised they didn't rank VaTech or even Toledo in the preseason top 25.

TCU seems like a decent team. Certainly not a bad team to schedule.

Nice piece on UGA running back Todd Gurley. His three rushing TD's and 1 TD reception (along with 450+ total yards) has him in the early lead as the SEC's Heisman representative.

Everybody's wondering where the defense is in the SEC after high-scoring games between Georgia and South Carolina and Alabama and Texas A&M (1,200 yards of offense). You can have good defense, but sometimes good and veteran quarterback play will trump that. That's what the SEC has with the ultimate winner in AJ McCarron, maybe the most dynamic player of this generation in Johnny Manziel, Aaron Murray, Connor Shaw ... all kinds of talent at that position. And that's why you're seeing higher-scoring games in the SEC.

I don't think the athletes on defense have changed. The expertise at quarterback is the biggest thing that's changed for me, and that's a big deal moving forward.

Three of the top eight QB's are in the SEC. Four more in the Top 30
This is the year of the quarterback for Southern Schools.

Did you know - every SEC team plays at least 1 FCS team (Bama plays two (Georgia Southern and Chattanooga))
Did you know - in games against ranked non-SEC opponents, the SEC is..... drum roll... 0-4 this season.

Don't expect frosted tips to realize this, of course.... just sayin

So florida losing their only major conference game and beating a MAC team by 18 points is enough to justify them being better than Ohio State? We beat our MAC team by 20 points, and our major conference team by 18 points.

i'm assuming you mean using the current rankings?
TCU was ranked (not highly ranked, but ranked) at the time the game was played.
