2013 SEC Discussion and Division Races

First of all, the SEC really is the WWE of college football. Secondly, was the list limited to just QBs?

Report: Clowney linked to Jay-Z's sports agency

FOX SPORTS SOUTH STAFF |
Published: Tuesday, July 23, 2013, 2:53pm

At last week's SEC Media Days, Jadeveon Clowney bore the look of a burgeoning All-Pro who should be prepping for NFL training camp -- not his junior year at South Carolina.

But in some respects, he's just a 20-year-old kid, prone to making college-age mistakes -- especially ones that might hurt his amateur standing.

According to the Web site Inside The League, Clowney has maintained regular contact with rap star/media mogul Jay-Z, who made the successful-but-controversial transition to sports agent this spring, under the Roc Nation umbrella.

(Kevin Durant, Robinson Cano and New York Jets rookie QB Geno Smith have already signed on as Roc Nation clients.)

At this time, it's hard to quantify or document the extent of the reported relationship between Jay-Z and Clowney -- the early consensus No. 1 pick in next year's NFL draft -- but this now-public matter may be a big deal within SEC circles, most notably the Gamecocks' compliance office.

During the 2011-12 school year, the Division I Legislative Council expanded the definition of "agent," including family members, financial advisors, certified contract advisors, brand managers, marketing representatives or any other third-party liaisons who negotiate or broker deals on a college athlete's behalf -- regarding potential earnings -- before he/she turns professional.

Clowney, a preseason All-SEC selection, is already a household name in the sports landscape, thanks to a high-profile recruiting process with South Carolina (2011) and a crushing tackle/fumble recovery in the Gamecocks' Outback Bowl victory over Michigan in January.

The Dawgs were issued their iPads yesterday.
This is the first year all UGA playbooks will be available on their ipad with all video content being uploaded remotely.

Coaches can personalize instructions on areas for improvement and upload them directly to each players iPad. Specific plays can be highlighted and opponent scheme can be sent to players by coaches whenever they deem it necessary.

Each player will check out an iPad at the beginning of camp, for full use throughout the season, before they are to returned at the conclusion of the bowl game. The device is loaded with the XOS Thundercloud Program, used by a very small handful of other NCAA and NFL football teams.

DC Todd Grantham:

?I think it?s a great thing. It allows you to get information to your players, without them necessarily having to be here with me to do that. It?s like anything, the more you use it, the better resource it is. It?s a tool that I think can help you develop players. The iPad is a way to help, because I can look at twelve, fifteen plays go over them with a voice over and they be in the players hands the next day.?

Will probably hurt them more in the return game than the passing game, but still a loss for the Gators.

Florida's Andre Debose out for season with ACL injuryBy Tom Fornelli | College Football Writer

August 7, 2013 3:47 pm ET

The best thing about training camps opening throughout the country is that it means we're that much closer to the start of the college football season. The worst thing is it also means we're just as close to an injury occurring that could affect said season.
And Florida finds itself on the wrong end of that spectrum as the school confirmed on Wednesday that wide receiver Andre Debose suffered a torn ACL and is going to miss the entire 2013 season...continued

Composite SEC Schedule for those who are interested.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the genius of the SEC is scheduling. You'd have to be a complete moron not to see the special ed version of connect 4 going on here. I wish the BIG would let our top teams play the our middle tier sometime within the first 3 games. They won't be ranked any higher once BIG play starts. I'd love to see the Indiana game and Buffalo game switched.
