2013 Preseason and regular polls

This defeatist [Mark May] is depressing. I want tOSU to play for the title. Even losing in the title game helps recruiting. The players have beat every team they've played over two years. They deserve a chance. They've earned it. I don't think there's a team in CFB that can beat tOSU at it's best. Fuck tsun

Just try and think about the joy we'll feel when folks realize they are wrong. Not because we'll be able to say "I told you so", but more because of the joy they WILL have.
It's like when your child wants something for Christmas and you've wrapped it in a way that they will never guess that it's what they wanted? You make that present the one they open last, just when they think it's never going to happen...IT DOES!!!

Yeah, I guess. It just sucks because usually my message board energy is spent railing against the national media, espn, cbs, cfn, and SEC fans who's teams haven't won anything of importance in my lifetime. This year I've spent more posts trying to convince Buckeye fans that this year's team isn't coached by JT and the dude that shell-shocked us in 2007 is our coach now. It's depressing. Fuck TSUN

I'm with you, brother. I've been arguing all year that it will be a travesty for this team to get left out because of a dumpster fire B1G/Michigan.

Yeah I really didn't think it would ever happen. Of course, I wasn't counting on the voters, other media outlets including the BTN, and a sizable portion of our own fan base buying the shit ESPN is shoveling either. I don't think the B1G is omg amazing by any stretch, but there's no way anyone could convince me that the ACC or B12 is better. I think the PAC is better top to bottom, but as Wisky v ASU shows, imo, tOSU, Spart and Wisky, if put into the PAC...two of them would probably be playing in the CCG.

What really irritates me is tsun fans talking shit about tOSU's winning streak saying tOSU hasn't played anybody. I don't care how shitty the opponents are, winning 23 straight games in the recent past had ESPN declaring that team unbeatable/able to beat a shitty NFL team/goat, etc. It's ridiculous how little respect this team gets.

Let's not forget that it's almost criminal that the BTCG isn't a top ten matchup. Ridiculous that a one loss Sparty is ranked behind 2 loss Stanford and USClite, and even Baylor considering that they just had their stool pushed in by Okielite. Sparty coming up short in one of these scenarios, OK. Two, shady but they'd still be tenth. All three, is just utter hokeing bullshit.

Because FSU still has to lose, and the chances of losing either of its last two games are slim....even without Winston

But the prospect of losing Winston is a real possibility, and clearly if FSU is without Winston, then they do not deserve to be in the title game over OSU. So there SHOULD be some debate about OSU jumping FSU considering Winston's status being in limbo. But there isn't, because the media have somehow gotten the conclusion that FSU is better than OSU and somehow also seem to be ignoring the possibility of Winston being out for the bowl game.

And think about this - 10 years ago is an 8-3 Nebraska team NOT ranked? hell pumpkinin no, they'd be anywhere from 18-23 or so.

Which gives lie to the theory that all Ohio State needs is one other program to be strong. The bullshit--largely driven by espn's business interests--is too strong of a constant (and shameless) drumbeat to be overcome merely by that. We need Michigan to be a top 10 program, one team from the other division to be a top 10 team and another four spread across the divisions to be solid top 25 programs, and that will only start with a steady and consistent showing by the top half of the conference ooc and in bowls. Fair or not, the conference needs to over perform to counter the relentless espn spin against it.

Yep I said it almost a month ago - ESPiN and their mediot friends have set the bar to an unrealistically high level for Ohio State and the Big Ten in general.

What both of you are saying is true, but the B1G will never meet expectations. They'll just move the goalposts. If B1G teams win all their bowls and non-con games, it will be because they're healthier than the SEC due to not getting banged up playing an SEC schedule week in and week out.

The only surefire way the story will change is if ESPN outbids everyone for first tier B1G rights in a few years.

Jus' sayin'... I think I'd just as soon have the Bucks finish 3rd and go to the Rose Bowl. I'm not able to watch a football game on TV and analyze the way a football coach would, but based on the little I've seen of Alabama - the game with A&M and the game with LSU - they're a very balanced team. They don't make many mistakes on either side of the ball. They don't lose their composure in big games - although they had their hands full in the final quarter with A&M and a mobile QB who could find and hit receivers.

In comparison, the Buckeyes are thin - very thin - at linebacker, the DBs have been playing much better of late, but they play off the ball/receivers from the 20 to the 20. McCarron is the type of QB who could carve this defense apart if the front four can't get pressure on him.

The Buckeye offense has talent at the right spots, a mobile QB, depth at running back, good receiver corps, to make Alabama's defense vulnerable.

I think it would be a good game, but that Alabama would pull away in the 4th quarter. I think the Buckeyes are about 1.5 recruiting classes away from being ready to defeat an Alabama team as deep in talent and experience as this one.
If bammer played against tOSU the way they played against aTm the bucks might mop the floor with them. OSU's d is another league compared to aggy. I do think bammers d has improved quite a bit since that game
