2013 Preseason and regular polls

Maybe it's because they don't want to get burned should FSUs QB be indicted. I'd also have to ask just who the hell has/will FSU played/play? Meanwhile Alabama has dispatched a decent aTm and LSU.
Well, the voters are putting Clemson #7, and FSU dismantled them on their homefield. Neither of bammers "big" wins were that dominant, or that impressive (according to the pollsters).

Listen to Dustin Fox talk to an AP poll voter and you'll see the level of pure fucking lazy and stupid we're dealing with. It's laughable that this dude has any say in determining rankings.

This guy insists several times that the Big10 is equivalent to the Mountain West Conference; and Ohio State equals Hawaii.

This was last week, when he had Ohio State ranked #8. Behind Bama, FSU, Stanford, Oregon, Auburn, Clemson, & Missouri ... in that order.
This week, he moved Ohio State up 1 spot... but still behind Clemson despite admitting above that he couldn't defend it.

http://blogs.mercurynews.com/colleg...-climbs-and-the-tide-holds-down-the-top-spot/
1. Alabama
2. Florida State
3. Auburn
4. Oregon
5. Baylor
6. Clemson
7. Ohio State
8. Missouri
9. Stanford
10. Texas A&M

"I watch as many as I can, which is not as many as I'd like to. And none of the AP voters are able to watch all the games"
"I don't expect you to watch them all, I just ... you know... this is Ohio State country and we're Buckeye..."
"Sure, I've been hearing from Baylor fans all season. Absolutely. It's part of the machinery which makes the game so, uh, so good. And so intriguing. It's the fact that we have the polls and all that stuff. I totally understand."
"What's Ohio State going to be when they beat Michigan State for the B10 title?"
"You mean where am I going to put them?"
"Yea, will they be top-5 then?"
"I have no idea."
"Jon, you hate Ohio State, don't you?"
"You know I get emails about that a fair amount actually. And I think part of it is because I, on a - and I don't have anything in front of me - on a annual basis I probably have Ohio State ranked lower than the Buckeye are in the AP poll. Umm, on a fairly consistent basis. Year after year. And again, that's because I try to take into account Strength of Schedule and Ohio State often plays a pretty soft non-conference schedule and I often end up downgrading the Big Ten. I don't think much of the Big Ten. I think, for some years now, it has been... you know... several steps below the SEC, PAC12, BIG12... and so I end up not rewarding teams for winning conference games as much as I would reward a PAC12 or SEC team for winning conference games."
"Yea... yea, I would agree with you on the SEC. I wouldn't agree with you on any other conference. To me the SEC has - and I'm not sure about this year - has been head and shoulders.... Are we at a point now where we just assume all these teams are good in the SEC? Whether they really are or not."
"I think it's different teams each year. Like this year Missouri is obviously pretty good."
"Yeap"
"But the thing is, every metric that there is points to the fact that the SEC is the best. Whether it's National Titles, BCS records, draft picks, I mean... there's no other way over the sweep of the last 8 or 10 years. I don't know how you can argue that it's not been the best league. And I think what happens is that next tier ends up changing, like this year I think the PAC12 is probably the top of the next tier. But you know some years it's the B12, and I think it's been awhile since the B10 was the best of the 2nd tier. Quite frankly. And the league's post season record is is... and the September record... kind of speaks to that. You know a lot of what happens in September helps frame my view of what's going to happen in the conference season. And the PAC12 did pretty well head to head against the B10."
"I think your view of TAMU is just a good example of the SEC just getting props. Because I mean, they've beaten nobody. And, you know, they're 8-2. And you have them 10th. I mean, who have they beaten?"
"You mean out of conference?"
"Out of conference, in conference... I mean, they lost to Alabama they lost to Auburn... whose their best win, Vanderbilt?"
"You know, I don't have their schedule in front of me."
"OK... SMU, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, UTEP, Miss St, Rice, Sam Houston ... those aren't great wins. Are we giving them credit for good losses?"
"I do. I give teams credit for good losses. Absolutely. I've done that for years."
"All right. I think football is about winning games. I mean, isn't that what it's all about. You lose... there's no such thing as a good loss. I mean Ole Miss is 6-3"
"Oh I totally disagree with that. And I admit to having a different view from many AP voters. But I think there's absolutely such a thing as a good loss. If you play Alabama to a 7 point game, that's a pretty good loss. And to me, that tells you more about the team than a team like Ohio State that hasn't played anybody close to Alabama."
"Wait a second, so you give Texas A&M more credit for losing to Alabama close than Ohio State beating their own conference? And you said Ole Miss was a big win for them. Ole Miss is 6-3."
"I missed the last part of your question."
"I don't understand how a loss to Alabama raises a profile more than a win over Wisconsin. You lost."
"Oh yea, I think that's absolutely true."
"Huh? I thought you played the game to win..."
"Again, you have to take quality competition into account."
"I think you take quality of win into account, not ... no... I mean..."
"Oh I disagree. So you guys would have had Hawaii ..."
"No, because I think it's an absurd comparison you're making."
"Why?"
"Because Hawaii plays in a nothing conference. The Big10 may not be as good as the SEC... "
"You're judging Strength of Schedule right there by saying Hawaii plays in a nothing conference."
"That's not what I said. I said strength of victory. Victory matters, not strength of schedule. And Hawaii's strength of victory would be ... was probably useless because they didn't beat anybody. If you want to penalize Ohio State because their quality of wins are not good enough, that I get. But penalizing them for a win over Wisconsin, versus crediting a team for losing a close game to me is absurd. Because you play to win. All that matters is winning. In every other sport, all that matters is win. And in college football, we need style points. And to me that's why the whole system is a fraud. "
"Well I don't necessarily dock teams points on my ballot for winning games. I'm just saying I reward teams for quality losses, like A&M loses like...."
"So what do you call the Clemson loss to Florida State .. and they're 6... is that a horrendous loss?"
"What was that?"
"Clemson lost to Florida State 51-14. What do you count for that?"
"Well it wasn't a good loss"
"Well obviously ... it was a horrendous loss. I'm just saying, you give teams credit for losses. They got blown out 51-14 ... and they're 6th..."
"And I moved them down. I had Clemson 2nd at that point. "
"But they have 1 quality win, and Ohio State has 1 quality win. And Ohio State hasn't lost, so... I just... I guess that's what we're not getting"
"OK, fair enough. There's fans everywhere that have the same complaints you guys do. It's like I said, that's part of what makes it great."

Is this a guy an AP voter? If so, I just lost A TON of respect from the AP. We have more BCS bowls than EVERYONE. Our last 2 BCS Bowls. Beat SEC #2 (Arkansas) in Sugar Bowl, beat Pac-12 #1 (Oregon) in Rose bowl. Not to mention, last year the Big Ten went to 7 bowls, most of them against SEC/Pac-12 top teams, and 6/7 of them were close games a.k.a. either wins or good losses according to this guy.

He votes that way to get attention. If he had osu 3 or, even 4 w/ baylor 3, no one would know who he is and no one would interview him.
