2013 Preseason and regular polls

Agreed. Utah is currently 1-5 in the PAC-12. The only win coming, of course, against Stanford. It would be the equivalent of OSU losing to a team like Purdue. People like Herbie wouldn't be able to utter the words "Ohio State" without saying such a loss virtually disqualifies the Buckeyes from a shot at the NC game.
tOSU could have lost to Wisconsin and Herbie would be saying that. What's bull is that a loss to anyone and tOSU wouldn't sniff the top ten this season.

To each their own; 2002, 2006, and 2012 are equal to me..A game 20 to 35 days after the season is more like exhibition than crowning that season's champion. But like I said to each their own

That is true. And why I like the 8 team playoff. Give all of the teams 2 weeks to prepare after the conference titles (basically a bye week). Then they play round 1 and then round 2 the following Saturday. Then they get another bye and have the championship game. There is a reason the NFL plays their playoffs right after the season, teams get cold and a lot of the time it's not the same squads out there that went all week.
I guess the 4 team playoff will help, the teams play on the 1st and that helps them get ready for the championship, if they make it.

Well, of course you wouldn't. I'm talking about someone who's objective.
I'm not objective. I'm a Buckeye fan.
I'd agree as far as FSU is concerned, but fuck Bama. They got a do-over against an LSU team that beat them. The biggest fraud of the BCS era. I wouldn't be upset at all if their overrated schedule didn't end in a title shot for them.

Not likely. Only Baylor is capable of passing us in the polls -- and if they did it'd be by the slightest of margins.
Meanwhile, Stanford would both of us in the computers thanks to ASU.
The result is they'd effectively split #3/5 and end up at 4/5, allowing us to stay clearly at #3.
We finish with an awful schedule: Illinois, Indiana, and michigan. They finish with USC, cal, and nd. Also awful, but less so. They then will likely play ucla and we will play MSU. Even though it's bs, ucla is more highly rated. Therefore their CPU score will go up even higher than ours. With as close as we are currently, they could conceivably pass us.

If Stanford and Baylor both ein out, we could honestly be looking at being passed by both of them...

Either way... it doesn't matter. I saw Oregon losing to Stanford because that is what they do when they play a physical team. FSU isn't losing, they are hand over fist better than the rest of the horrible ACC. But because Clemson beat what we now know as a bad Georgia team and Miami beat an aweful Florida team before we know they were bad, Florida State gets the credit for it. I have a hard time believing that if you line up the ACC 1-12 against the Big Ten 1-12 that we wouldn't win at least 8 of those games. Last year (and the previous decade+) the ACC has been known as crap, I find it hard to believe it changed in a year.

I doubt Auburn or Mizzou have the gull to take down Bama. Bama is top notch and the bulk of the rest of the SEC is overrated. Auburn or Mizzou could turn out to be solid teams, but my guess is neither even lasts as long as LSU. You can't just pluck mediocre teams from the Big 12 and plop them in the SEC and call them great when they start winning in the best conference since slice bread.

So, who cares if Baylor or Stanford jump us really? I look at the polls just to see, but we are Rose Bowl bound at best right now. I had hopes of a national title, but I guess the media will hold us back at 3, and next year they will try their damnedest to keep us at 5. If we win the big ten crown and we are heading to Pasadena and not even ESPN can take that away from us. It's bigger than them, which I'm sure they hate. So lets look forward to kicking (presumably) Stanford's ass on January 1.

They are also capable of losing to one of those crap teams as they have already shown. Who says they even win their conference or their division?

Like I said, their computer score will likely be #3 ahead of both us and Baylor.
That works in our favor if Baylor jumps us.

Ohio State
Baylor

We end up #3 as they split 3/5. I feel like I'm repeating myself here...
