2013 Preseason and regular polls

That's why the BCS is the worst championship in sports..why should tOSU have to give two <Mark May's> about Whisky-ASU

I'm just making the point that it's all about perceptions.
That's not going to change next year and with seeding deciding who gets to play the SEC in their home game.
Wiscy getting jobbed screws us if that's our marquee victory to date. It'd be the same situation next year.

Call me when there is a 16 or 32 team playoff..the crystal football should be replaced by a WWE belt .

I don't think that will ever happen due to scheduling constraints. They're not going to play 17 or 18 games / year.
Besides which, I prefer the "Every week is March Madness" format as Urban Meyer described it.
People can bitch and moan about the BCS, and the polls/computers certainly make for some laughable bs, but in the end there's really only been 1 year (Auburn 2004) that a school got screwed out of their chance.

That game still really pisses me off. The refs cost them the game, the Pac-12 acknowledged it, yet no one cares... They should have fixed it on the spot and allowed them to kick the FG, 12 seconds to spot the ball as they stand there with their thumbs up there ass is a load of bull, even if the fans rush the field, then I believe that is a personal foul against the home team, I remember a game a few years ago where the fans stormed the field, they had to clear them all off and asses the penalty and finish the game.

It is not too late to play it. I believe that Wisky would be willing to fly their team out there for a 12 second game.

To each their own; 2002, 2006, and 2012 are equal to me..A game 20 to 35 days after the season is more like exhibition than crowning that season's champion. But like I said to each their own

Name one BCS champ that was clearly NOT one of the best teams that year.

You can't.

If I cared enough to look it up, I could name twenty playoff champs from other sports that were not amongst the best teams all year.
Michigan was in the basketball final last year and they finished fifth in the Big Ten during the regular season and lost in the second round of the conference tournament.

Pumpkin. That.

I call shenanigans 2002 was fucking special. 12 pt underdogs, killing off a baby-dynasty, being the first ever 14-0 team, Holy Buckeye...[/quoteOk
I think the season was special before the Miami win, it proved tOSU was better that night. The season was special when we beat scUM and we were in 12-0. I didn't need the BCS game then and I won't need it this year if we go 13-0, All I'm saying ..I am consistent, since I started following College football the Bowls have never been that important to me as the regular season. The Bowls seem like exhibitions to me since the 60's, I won't apologize for feeling this way. If you can only be satisfied by winning the BCS title..you are in for disappointment most of the time.

Nobody said it was just about the title. I don't see how you can just not care about some of the biggest games we play in though with the obvious exception of The Game. Bowl games are some of the few chances we get to see our team play against other conferences or highly ranked teams granted it doesn't always mean a lot in terms of who is better but I really can't see how you value for example the 2009 Illinois game more than the Rose bowl game against Oregon.

This.

Given that something called a best team exists, It is a provable mathmetical fact - not an opinion - that the more teams in a playoff the less the chance that the best team will win.

We need to start a thread on a College Playoff.
