2013 Preseason and regular polls

It helps the Bucks that the Top 25 is now sporting 4 B1G teams this week. Another week and another win from Michigan State and they will be in in the Top 25 (as they are #26 today).

Im glad the pollsters had enough common sense to totally get rid of Georgia but Im not sure why they still have SC at #20? South Carolina was destroyed by a (now) 3-loss Georgia and lost to an unranked Tennessee.

Have you honestly seen something this season to suggest that Ohio State is better than Oregon at this point? I have scarlet and gray goggles, too, but they must be a lower prescription.

No.....but I've seen something this season to suggest that Oregon is worse than Ohio State. It's not a matter of me wanting Ohio State to be ranked higher, it's me trying to be more even keeled with it. I posted this elsewhere on here:

3 of Oregon's opponents have winning records, and they're all only by one game. One of those 3 teams is an FCS team. Only one is in their conference. That one just lost three in a row as well.

Buffalo is 5-2, Wisconsin is 5-2, Northwestern is 4-3, Iowa is 4-3 Not only have we played more teams with a winning record, but those teams W-L record is a higher margin. And three of them are in conference. Northwesterns is our three in a row one.

Damn! FSU jumps us in the latest AP poll. F#@!

You expected something else? OSU just needs to keep winning and hope at least 2 of the 3 teams in front of us lose. We aren't getting any help from the B1G (or the perception of the B1G) so it's going to be up to OSU to change that perception in whichever bowl game they play in. To be honest if the season was over today I wouldn't have a problem playing Oregon in the Rose Bowl. Winning that game would change OSU's perception and hopefully show that the Pac12 isn't as good as people think.

After watching Wazzu's defensive line push Oregon's o-line around a bit while also containing Oregon's defensive line for a half, Oregon is beatable and when a team that has solid line play who also has DBs that can tackle (which Wazzu doesn't and it really showed up in the 2nd half), that team will beat Oregon.

So that means Stanford, fUCLA (next week and then probably in the PAC-12 championship game) and we'll see what Utah brings in a month or so. I think we'll see at one point Oregon will drop a game.

Sure we are. Right now, the B1G has 4 ranked teams and a 1 loss Michigan State sitting at #26. The B1G is actually helping the Buckeyes right now. It was non-conference play by the B1G that hurt the conference perception.

I don't think playing Oregon would help OSU much, IMO. They have played and beat a "very fast" (according to ESPiN pundits) Oregon in a bowl recently. They also played and beat an SEC team (Arkansas) in a BCS Bowl recently which did nothing for our perception. The only thing that will save OSU at this point will be: conference teams winning in their bowl games this year (since they struggled OOC), Ohio State winning the NC (something that we haven't been able to do the last few tries), and the teams we play ending the year ranked.

Right. Say Wisconsin doesn't get Pumpkined in the ASU game and actually makes the FG. They're a one-loss team that is in the top 12 or so by now. Northwestern has collapsed, because they clearly put everything they had into the game against Ohio State. the Big Ten west (MSU/Nebby/scUM) are going to beat the crap out of each other, but if any of them escape undefeated in that grouping, they'll be in the top 15 by the end of it.

Dude are you serious? I love tOSU but Oregon is a better team right now and it isn't really close. They manhandled a very good Washington team at their house. They have a QB in the lead for the Heisman race, they have the #2 offense in the country, etc. They took Cal apart and we didn't. They destroyed Tennessee who has played respectable football. What have we done that is impressive this season?

Not saying we couldn't beat Oregon in a bowl game but right now at a neutral field I'd say the line would open Oregon -12 if I had to guess and would grow to -16 by kickoff.

He just layed it out pretty clearly. Tennessee?! Seriously?! Wisconsin and NW are greater than Washington and Tennessee.
