Judging by the current blogosphere/message board climate, he's not off to a good start...ChisAto;1855417; said:When you state "You continue to blame other fans," that implies that I've done it before. I'm not here to defend Rich Rod, he dug his own grave with his subpar defenses, lack of attention to detail, and constant teases of potential without actual production. That's said and done, and over with.
I was simply stating that the fan division ON TOP of that, or the fact that plenty of fans gave him no shot to succeed before he even took the job (Like fans are doing right now with Hoke) is something that needs to stop, or Hoke is gonna end up being hurt just as much.

The messageboards/blogosphere are usually a good indicator of where the admin/alums are. Not saying it's like that now, but it typically is. They got their "m*ch*g*n man"...wait, coaching DL there for a few years is all it takes? He's a Ball State alum...whatever, they got him. Thing is, I think when they were saying "m*ch*g*n man", they meant Harbaugh.BuckeyeBill;1855450[B said:;]I don't think it was message board banter that undermined RR. The divisions within the UM administration and alumni were vicious and extremely damaging to RR.[/B] Regardless, I seriously doubt he would have had long term success, given his inability or unwillingness to develop a defense. But to me, the bigger black eye on Michigan is how he was undermined from within.
I suspect that will not be the case with Hoke.

If Tate transfers and DRob leaves as rumored...that puts it all on Gardner for next season.
To be fair their ultimate Michigan man went to Miami and his first and last coaching position as an assistant was at Ohio State.NFBuck;1855464; said:The messageboards/blogosphere are usually a good indicator of where the admin/alums are. heisman;1855374; said:First of all, it's funny because the tsun fanbase wants nothing to do with him and are in meltdown mode. He also has a losing record in his coaching career, which probably doesn't help him when it comes to gaining their support. Personally, I don't think it is a bad hire, but he has a daunting task ahead of him with unrealistic expectations and no fan support. Good luck to him.
"I'm excited about it," Michigan defensive lineman Mike Martin said about the hiring of Hoke as he entered a Tuesday afternoon players' meeting at Schembecher Hall on the U-M campus.
