A meeting between Les and UM has been scheduled for Tuesday according ESPN. Les was at a presser for one his LSU kids announcing he was going pro and said he was very happy at LSU.

should be interesting to see what happens.

He went a heck of a lot further than that:

LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson said Les Miles has told his team he's not going to take the head coaching job at Michigan after LSU's 41-24 AT&T Cotton Bowl victory against Texas A&M.

...

LSU running back Stevan Ridley concurred with Jefferson.
"He told us this is his football team and this is where he's going to be," Ridley said.

i'm not sure les could beat more money out of LSU. there was a push to fire him last year amongst the alumni, but the buyout was so high prior to the 2010 season that the state board of education shot it down. the recession coupled with the BP oil spill has hurt the state's finances quite a bit.

there's a lot of mis/dis information about the goings on at LSU. some say les wants to run a pro style offense, but was pressured into hiring crowton to accommodate jordan jefferson, who was from a well thought of high school program that has produced some NFL talent (ed reed most notably). others say that crowton is miles' man and miles is protecting him at the offense's expense.

either way the LSU fanbase is split down the middle on miles. some hate him, some like him. i wouldn't say that anyone is particularly thrilled with him. the ones that support him seem more concerned about the message that firing a winning coach would send to replacement prospects.

either way, most agree that miles winding up at UM would be a boon for LSU, since LSU would be the most attractive head coach opening in the country this year, and they wouldn't be faced with buying out miles and having the rift between miles supporters/dissenters among the alumni continue.

yeah, Miles said that to the team right after the game a couple days ago, he gave the old happy where i'm at speech today. little different. I'm sure he'll entertain the idea of coming to UM. It also wouldn't surprise me if he uses it to lobby himself a raise with LSU.

We've always got Hoke to fall back on ......yikes

I'm not sold on Hoke. The one thing I do like about him is that he would pour his heart into this program. He could coach here on a lesser salary than anybody and it wouldn't matter to him. You can tell the way he talks.......it's his dream job and there is no doubt that he loves Michigan. Can't say the same thing about our last coach.

Les Miles would be a great selection for scUM, if he gets the job he has all the qualities that you want in a head coach at scUM:

1) Besides being not that good of game/sideline coach; i.e. documented cases where he was lucky to win desite poor play calling and lousy clock management, etc.

2) He lies to his players per "LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson said Les Miles has told his team he's not going to take the head coaching job at Michigan after LSU's 41-24 AT&T Cotton Bowl victory against Texas A&M."

3) He lies to and/or deceives recruits per ESPN OTL story on "oversigning"

4) He commits major NCAA violations (example: LSU has reported football recruiting violations involving improper telephone contact, transportation and housing involving a former assistant coach and player to the NCAA.) http://www.annarbor.com/sports/um-f...olations-to-ncaa-les-miles-issues-no-comment/

This guy actually has the potiential to be a bigger disaster than DickRod.

LSU is working in the 5+million range to keep him plus contract incentives that automatically add years when certain benchmarks are met.

That would make him the top three highest paid coaches in college football. Doesn't seem worth the money to me.

No one has benefited more than Miles during these Michigan coaching searches, that's for sure.

If LSU renegotiates his contract because the TSUN job is open, just like 3 years ago, they need to take out the clause that limits Les's buyout to $1.25 million if he takes the TSUN job.

i wonder if he'll follow in Tress' intro speech to get the rivalry sparked up again. it's defo been lacking for a long time.
That would be cheesy as fuck. Also, they already did something similar with product fraudriguez by introducing him at the scUM-OSU basketball game. Not sure you want that mojo again...
