Scott Draper will no longer be director of football operations.

Michigan director of ops, reprimanded for violations, resigns

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Michigan director of football operations Scott Draper has resigned.

School spokesman Dave Ablauf said Saturday that Draper stepped down to accept another position.

Draper and former coach Rich Rodriguez were among the people the school reprimanded for their roles in NCAA rule violations related to exceeding limits on practice and training.

Draper spent 19 seasons with the football program, including the past seven as director of football operations.

The native of Linden, Mich., started working with the team's video staff in 1992 for coach Gary Moeller and later was a graduate assistant under coach Lloyd Carr before moving into an administrative role at Schembechler Hall.

Cont'd ...

I'm not sure what's funnier, the fact that tsun has had to resort to plan D recruits, or watching their fans celebrate it.
Now they can celebrate the unranked kicker (Matt Wile?) that committed to them today over SDSU (guess that's the Shrek connection) and Air Force. That actually has to be a step up though. They're just cleaning up!!!

*edit* Scout/Rivals don't have him ranked, but e!spn has him as the #44 kicker.

Absolutely the celebrations. Reading the rationalizations as to why these are great gets is a hoot.

And my favorite post from their boards:
Any of these Ohio kids get any offers from OSU?

Sorry guys - the kids who beat them up and take their lunch money didn't get OSU offers.

I love how they're looking at this as proof that Hoke is a big time recruiter and is establishing a presence in Ohio. Well, the m*ch*g*n name will still get you most 3* kids and plucking kids from Ohio that were never on tOSU's radar hardly indicates the fence is coming down. He has landed Scout's #104 CB, #63 TE, #49 CB, e!spn's #44(!) K and looks to be on the verge of scout's #110 WR. They're really thirsty for some kool-aid up there.

Like I said, I get that he's just trying to fill spots, by why not bank these scholarships for next year when the midwest is incredibly deep? This is how you become and 8-5 team, not a National Title competitor.

For the last year, I've been needling my spartan dad, telling him to enjoy the glory years before Harbaugh returned to restore order at Michigan. Looks like I was mistaken so far.

Hoke would have been a far better fallback offer in 2007. He would have retained Lefty and run an offense geared around Ryan Mallett, Brandon Minor, Greg Mathews, Darryl Stonum, Junior Hemingway, Justin Boren, etc attacking vertically, and he certainly would not have taken a player away from Graham's DL in order to sub in another sub-par DB.

Hoke is on a recruiting rampage unlike anything I have ever seen or heard.

After stealing from IU, Minnie and Vandy it looks like Hakeem Flowers is going elsewhere. Per the UM board - despite offers from LSU and Oregon - it was Hoke who said "thanks, but no thanks".

The man has standards!

I agree NFB, but I can understand why they are desperate to get some bodies in and hope for the best. When Hoke took inventory of their kicking game I'd imagine it appeared a must to bring in another to compete for the job. As for the DB's, I'm sure they are hoping for a diamond in the rough, but with most 2-low3* guys they are more than likely getting a lump of coal, at least by high BCS standards. At this point it looks like Hoke still is recruiting like he is at SDSt. It may be that is his only option in the straits that he is in with 2 weeks to go. From my view RR never did recruit consistently at an upper echelon bcs level. Hoke better start grabbing a bunch of top 250 talent by next year, and prove that he can recruit against OSU-ND, or their mediocrity could last a long time.

Well, our staff has a history of coaching kids up...plus the talent was obviously there with JL...this kid's just another skinny corner. They already have plenty of those.
Laurinaitis' high school numbers:

2003 (Jr.): 128 tackles, 10 TFL's, 4 INT
2004 (Sr.): 197 tackles, 28 TFL's, 5 sacks; Mr. Football in Minnesota
Academics: 3.6 GPA, 25 ACT, leader on and off the field
Ideal size for MLB: 6-foot-2, 235 pounds

Watch his Insiders videos...his lateral movement is impressive and he is a natural hitter. Great pickup IMO
Yes, Laurinaitis was a "three-star" prospect, but you really have to wonder why. Maybe the biggest screw-up of all time by the recruiting services.

No comparison to the "reaches" that UM is currently taking with Brady Hoke at the helm.

my favorite is the guy who thinks we can still pull in a top 10 class THIS YEAR.......wtf?

That is sad to be honest. Michigan will have somewhere around a #40 class. I'm not taking a shot at the kids but this could be Michigan's worst recruiting class in a long time. Michigan use to get players who had Ohio St offers, Penn St. offers, USC offers, Texas offers, etc. Now they are getting MAC type players.

Next year we will see if the coaching staff can really recruit because the Midwest is suppose to be loaded next year. The state of Michigan looks like they will have several good prospects next year.

Plus Ohio has WAY more talent than Ohio State can possibly keep in 2012. If Michigan can take advantage of that it would help out.
