Maurice Wells was an OOS'er that announced for the Bucks at the USAAB...
The exception proves the rule. We also were going heads up with Georgia Tech for Mo and not a recruiting powerhouse like Florida. I'll be thrilled if we land Floyd but I'm not getting my hopes up for any out of state kids that are announcing, we've been burned too many times in the past.

I just look at past practice with OOS kids and this game. When is the last time we had a kid announce for Ohio State that had this kind of stuff surrounding their announcement? Ohio State does not fare well with OOS kids who seem to be drumming up drama surrounding their announcements. I'm not saying Shariff is doing this, but I think the people in charge of the game are as responsible as anyone. Floating positive rumors or negative rumors about the kids favorite schools peaks interest in the game.

Exactly. MoWells was already a lock to come here (no drama) and Ginn was big but of course he is from Ohio. OOS guys and/or dramatic announcements generally mean they aren't picking OSU. But yes, Floyd is doing this...he keeps emphasizing his choice will be a shocker every chance he gets and trying to throw people off. Not saying anything about his character, just saying he is trying to build up the suspense.

Everything is ok. This time next year we are probably going to be matching up with Alabama for the NC.

It would just be really great to snag Floyd, Henderson, Hicks, Anderson, Bryant, James...

anyone I'm leaving out?

Phew!

And star-less Wisconsin will keep making star-filled LSU, Tenn & Auburn play their style of football.

Dominique Brown will be another excellent athlete to "settle" on after we miss one or more of these guys.

They may have been involved, I don't recall them putting the full court press on for Mo if they were. I just remember the decision came down to GT and OSU being his final two and like someone else said we already pretty much knew it was going to be OSU.

Are you mods deleting the "sky is falling" type posts that I keep hearing everyone refer to?

Most of the time I just see people make observations that recruits may not be coming to OSU and then others jump in and freak out. I picture people just admiring the grand canyon from ten feet back and then everyone starts jumping in front of them out of no where yelling "don't jump!!!"

There was a lot more cleanup in the floyd thread than here. This has been fairly reserved, though I'd change your description to a few (not all) grumpy old folks talking about how the weather is always ugly this time of year and we won't see the sun again until next (recruiting) year.
