2010 TSUN News (in-season)

just saying that his rise at Stanford has mirrored Rich Rods records at Michigan. What if RR goes 10-2 next season, similar to JH 11-1. I certainly won't complain if JH comes in, but I still think we'll be in transition again. Like I said, whatever happens I'm on board. That can't be said for a lot of fans who have been negative since day 1 with RR's hire.

Oh well, the wait will soon be over.

Main difference is that RichRod inherited a team that beat Football Jesus. Stanford was 1-11.

No. Main difference is that Harbaugh has actually BEATEN the top teams in his league, even from day one and inheriting a 1-11 team.

Harbaugh is 3-1 against USC, and 2-1 against Pete Carroll more specifically. Carroll has been the scourge of college football, laying waste to virtually every program he faced. I don't think very many coaches out there had a winning record against Carroll in 3 or more games.

Rich is 6-18 in the B10, he's lost to TOLEDO, and all 5 of his losses this season were by double digits.

Oh yeah, not to mention he's 1-13 against teams with a winning record. I repeat...ONE AND THIRTEEN.

Rodriguez and Harbaugh's records aren't comparable. Remotely. Period.

he didn't shove Mallett out the door. One of these days people will drop that baseless claim.

It's not a baseless claim.

I talk with a relative of Adrian Arrington's who posts on various Michigan forums quite a bit, and he tells me that Mallett was essentially forced out.

Rich made NO attempt to keep him and the firing of Scott Loeffler sealed the deal. Rich knew he had to retain Loeffler to keep Mallett, he was told that by Lloyd Carr, and what did he do? He fired Loeffler and made no attempt to recruit Mallett.

That is being pushed out of the door my friend.

And why was Lloyd Carr SO pissed at Rich over this? Because Lloyd didn't want to return in 2007, he was pretty much retired after the OSU game in 2006, but decided to stay in 2007 solely to set-up the next coach with RYAN MALLETT. Lloyd said he needed to secure a QB for the next coach, and Ryan was THE BEST QB that he had ever been around, and that is the primary reason why he came back in 2007, to secure Ryan Mallett.

These are Lloyd's own words, not mine.

I really don't know. I want it to happen. The AD is waiting after the bowl game. I would like to know if his decision is solely on the bowl game.

The delay is based soley on DickRod's buyout clause in his contract: According to CBS sports, if Brandon and school officials decide to fire Rodriguez without cause on or after Jan. 1, the buyout drops from $4 million to $2.5 million.

Significant differences in the situations despite the similarities in their records in their first three years. First and foremost, Stanford is Stanford, and Michigan is Michigan...while both are outstanding in academics, the football pedigree of the two programs could not be much farther apart. Second, Harbaugh inherited a 1-11 team with next to no talent...DickRod inherited a 7-5 team plenty of NFL-level talent. Harbaugh has won at least three conference games every season, including his first...DickRod has won three conference games in a season once in three years, and is 6-18 overall in conference. I don't think Michigan has had a worse three-year conference record in its history.

Rich didn't inherit a 7-5 team, he inherited a 9-4 team that went 6-2 in the B10 and was coming off of a bowl win over Urban Meyer and Tim Tebow - the Heisman Trophy Winner of the 2007 season.

Harbaugh had a signature win in year one against USC in what is the greatest upset in college football history according to point spreads - and he also knocked off another one of the top 3 teams in his league that year in Cal.

Three years in and Rich STILL doesn't have a signature win. What is Rich's signature win? A pair of wins over mediocre ND programs and a 19 point comeback fluke win against a 7-6 Wisconsin team?
