2010 TSUN News (in-season)

Single biggest mistake Rich made in his tenure was interfering with Shafer and hindering him, and then cutting him loose to take the fall.

Rich should've given Shafer free reign to hire his own assistants and run his style of defense.

Shafer has proven to be a pretty successful defensive co-ordinator literally everywhere except Michigan. Hmmm...wonder why.

So when Rich gets fired, and he asks himself "why me" and tries to make excuses like he continually does...well, he'll have nobody to blame but himself.

Shoving Ryan Mallett (which in-turn caused Arrington/Manningham to peace out) and Justin Boren out the door was also retarded...at best...and criminal at worst.

He keeps Scot Loeffler on staff as QB's coach and goes out and finds a OC that runs a pro-set or just promotes Loeffler and he wins more than 3 games in 2008 and in 2009 and 2010 he has pretty good teams.

Just curious, does anyone at scUM say "TRUST THE COACHES" like we do here"?

I hate RR, but not sure about shoving Mallett out of the door. We don't know what happened behind the scenes. I'm sure RR didn't welcome him either. It seems that he has a... you are either going to fit this offense/defense or you can hit the road jack attitude. Look at all the transfers Michigan has had over the past few years. Most of these players could have helped us tremendously.

I think Manningham was gone regardless, but Arrington might have stayed. He could have been one of the best wrs in the conference along with Mallett being one of the best qbs in the conference. Plus with Boren, not only did he ruin that, but also his brothers. They probably would have gone to Michigan.

Need a Michigan man running the show. Our Ad needs to stop fucking around and throw everything he has at Harbaugh. Give him several years to fix this up.

they don't need a Michigan Man running the show. They need a competent coach. Which even I can see RR has not excelled at much since arriving.

Most of the "Michigan Men" that have coached here have been competent. They have done good things for this program/university.

It seems that in the last few days things have really taken a turn for the worse for RR. Is everyone that sold on Harbaugh accepting the UM job? Because I've always thought that UM would take Harbaugh over RR, but if Harbaugh won't take the job, UM would give RR another year.

I really don't know. I want it to happen. The AD is waiting after the bowl game. I would like to know if his decision is solely on the bowl game.

non-rope-holder. It's lloyd's fault. cupboard bare. et cetera.

He won a national title and had Michigan one game from reaching it again. Several big ten titles and awards. A lot of players have turned into successful men and some outstanding pros in the NFL. I was not happy with Carr the last few seasons (2005 Michigan team had a lot of talent and was better than their 7-5 record). He even stated he should have left after 2006. Several people give him a hard time because he couldn't beat Ohio St when Tressel arrived. What people don't realize is Michigan could have won 2 or 3 of those games if they caught a lucky break or two. Now Michigan needs about 50 lucky breaks to win. I appreciated everything he did and the clean program he ran. RR will never get to what Carr did for this program.

I'm just waiting to see what happens. Whoever the coach is, I'll support him. Be it RR or JH. I personally don't see the big deal in JH either. If I was to make a hire right now I would go after TCU's head coach. but i'm sure i'm in the minority. Just get back to winning, whoever it is.

Patterson is probably going to stay at TCU.

JH- He beats teams he isn't suppose to beat. He called out USC and has a 3-1 record against them. How many coaches have 3 wins against USC let alone a winning % against USC the past decade? Stanford was nothing when he got there. He now has led them to a 11-1 record and a BCS game. His teams have improved every year he has been there. His teams can win in shootouts or defensive struggles. Stanford has sent players to the Heisman Trophy Presenation the past two years. His teams are physical and will not get away from what works. He seems to get the max ability out of the 2/3 star guys out of high school. He could have a track record with qbs. I bet several good HS qbs will be knocking on Michigan's door to come to Michigan to play qb. He is an outstanding recruiter and actually seems to care about the education of his players. He understands what Michigan is about and the traditions and rivalries.

That's what I see in him.

just saying that his rise at Stanford has mirrored Rich Rods records at Michigan. What if RR goes 10-2 next season, similar to JH 11-1. I certainly won't complain if JH comes in, but I still think we'll be in transition again. Like I said, whatever happens I'm on board. That can't be said for a lot of fans who have been negative since day 1 with RR's hire.

Oh well, the wait will soon be over.

I gave RR a chance. I wasn't thrilled but I said hey...maybe this guy can win here. I never thought it would get this bad.

Kind of?

The difference being where they started..seems like a pretty big difference to me

Last year under Lloyd: 9-4

Rich Rod First year: 3-9

Rich Rod 2nd year: 5-7

Rich Rod 3rd year: either 8-5 or 7-6

Last year before Harbaugh at Stanford: 1-11

JH First year: 4-8

JH 2nd year: 5-7

JH 3rd year: 8-5

JH 4th year either 12-1 or 11-2

Yeah the records have mirrored each other..but I where each started sure makes a difference. Rich Rod has yet to match Lloyd's last year (infact he's yet to match Lloyd's WORST year with the bowl game pending)..with Harbaugh there was improvement at Stanford from day 1. Also Harbaugh's 3rd year he was much closer to having more wins then RR was, 4 of the 5 stanford losses were by a td or less
