2010 TSUN News (in-season)

184.61 rating, 701 yards, 6 TDs. 2-0 record
157.74 rating, 630 yards, 5 TDs. 2-0 record

What's that? The numbers for Mallett (Arkansas) and Threet (Arizona St).

Shoelace's line:

138.25 rating, 430 yards, 2 TDs. (+ 455/3 TDs rushing).

I think it'll be interesting to watch where these three go this season.

Threet was playing Northern Colorado and Northern Arizona I believe. Mallett we know is a beast.

Oh, nice. That's pretty awesome then. I assumed it was a celebration.

From everything I've read about him and have seen about him, Denard is an incredibly likeable, humble kid...just look at him when he scores, no dancing, no goofy celebrations, he just gives the ball to the ref and gets down on one knee. So, for once, I don't mind seeing a scUM player do well. He really has been amazing, and I think he'll continue to do well...if he can stay in one piece. His numbers will inevitably come back to earth when they start facing teams with a real defense, but he's obviously the perfect fit for that scheme. However, if they continue to run him 25-30 times a game, he's going to get killed. He's, quite literally, their entire offense right now, so if he gets hurt, they're in trouble.

The difference between him and Tate as far as handling the media goes is like night and day.

Everything about them is night and day. Denard seems like he sincerely appreciates the chance he's been given and actually enjoys himself. Tater is a cocky, arrogant, spoiled-rotten, entitled little prick who feels everything is owed to him. Denard could play on my team, Tater can go pound salt.

Giving up 535 yards is not good on defense...sorry. I'll admit they gave up 45 points in their 1st 2 games last year and 34 this year but IMO UCONN left at least 14 points on the field and ND should have had at least 3 more points.

I don't think this years ND team is as good as last years. Losing Tate and numerous other starters hurt them.

I guess we'll have to see what ND does against MSU and UCONN does against Temple.

The reason I say this is because Purdue struggled against powerhouse Western Illinois.

If MSU beats ND comfortably and Temple hangs with or beats UCONN I think we may be a tad premature annointing Michigan all-world.

I don't think anyone is anointing them all anything, but based on the first two games -- games I felt sure they would lose -- they look much better than last year's team. It's not inconcievable that they could win two of their three 'must win" games this year. They could finish in the middle of the Big 10 and earn the first bowl bid in the Dick Wad Era.

I'd say they look remarkably similar to last years team...not better.

Week 1: Convincing win against a suspect team coming off a nice season. A lot of people said they'd lose, but several of us said they had the firepower to knock off a team that had a defense roughly as bad as theirs. Uconn left a few points on the board due to some unforced errors (drops) and one fumble inside the five...which, granted, scUM deserves some credit for forcing.

Week 2: Come from behind win against a mediocre ND team. Actually, I'd say last year's ND team was better at this point due to the fact they had more veterans and weren't implimenting a totally new offensive system. Even so, they still racked up 530+ yards on scUM's defense despite playing half the game with subpar backup QBs. Another game a lot of us said was a "toss-up". I'm convinced if Crist played that whole game, nd wins by 7-10 points.

Offensively, Denard gives them a dimension tater never did or will. But, his throwing hasn't really been tested. They have no running backs. Their defense hasn't really seen a good offense yet and still have allowed a decent amount of yardage. This year is setting up pretty much exactly like last year, and exactly like many of us said. They'll get off to a good start, but struggle against the meat of the schedule. The big questions are how much of a difference will denard make and will he be able to single handedly offset the inevitable defensive struggles. I still think they're a 6-6 or 7-5 team.

Ugh, I can't wait for conference play to start so the shine can get knocked off of Denard Robinson. It's getting really old listening to UM fans argue whether he's Jesus Christ or Jesus Christ, but a little faster. I honestly cannot believe that this fan base - who saw virtually the same goddamn thing last year - is falling for this BS again. They have exactly one player on offense who can do anything: Denard Robinson. As soon as they play a competent defense, they're in deep shit. Even if he goes 100/100, they're going to have 225 yards of offense and 10 points that day. There's no balance whatsoever on that team, and they're set up for a hard fall.

For a school that's supposed to have intelligent fans, these are some incredibly stupid people. I guess that's what happens when you live in the echo chamber.
