2010 TSUN News (in-season)

After watching the game I realized a few things about UCONN.

They would be no better than 8th or 9th in the conference.

Their WR's and QB would probably be ranked 10th in the conference only ahead of Illinois and Illinois has a first year QB.

I think it was one of those games for Michigan where everything goes right. It was kinda like the Wisconsin game last year for the Buckeyes. We were smoked in TOP and yardage but BEAT Wisky by 18.

The biggest thing that happened is UCONN was unable to exploit your defense...ND will. Michigan fumbled the ball 3 time IIRC and every time the ball came right back to Michigan...every bounce went your way...0 tuenovers...few penalties...

How long do you think it took the ND coaches to watch film and come up with a gameplan...15 minutes. Its a H.S. OFFENSE.

Play man on the outside and load the box. I bet Michigan break a few good runs but nothing like this last week. Pick spots to blitz ...mostly contain DR and force him inside. TACKLE TACKLE TACKLE...THERE WAS AT LEAST 5 TIMES I SAW A UCONN DEFENDER HAVE WOLVERINE AN THEIR GRASP IN THE BACKFIELD AND NOT COMPLETE THE TACKLE.

Michigan is losing players fast...losing roundtree is bigger than they think. Hes their best WR.

Sounds like scUM fans after the Navy game and THE GAME last season...just sayin'. It goes both ways.

I really think UConn played about as well as they could have for being an opener and well they suck. DR played an extraordinary game and it's definitely something positive to build on for this weeks ND game.

As far as UConn, I see the Huskies doing exactly jack and [censored] this year. They play defense like [censored] and there offense isn't much better... tsun ran the same damn play 29 times and edsall still hasn't figured that out!!!

To put it in contrast, I heard first hand from several tsun fans last year after the Navy game..."if it weren't for one bad pass o-state goes down!!11!!1!!! to the middies!!" and navy actually ended up winning 10 games last season. I heard the same crap after The Game last year too...

Back to UConn, they will not match last years 8 win mark. I know most teams improve throughout the year but they'll be lucky if to end up bowl eligible.

Point being: you won an opener but :scum4:still.

Well i just hate it when any fan base pulls the what if scenario every damn game. It can be fun to talk about games and the past on what ifs sometimes. You brought up the Navy/OSU game. Could Navy have won that game? Sure, if they caught a break or two. Here is the kicker though.......they didn't win. They still got a loss and it will be in the record books. No "what ifs" can change that. Same goes with Michigan fans last year about our 5 turnovers against OSU. Well we probably would have won if we didn't turn the ball over. Maybe, maybe not, maybe who gives a fuck. The fact is that it happened and nothing changes that.

Same goes for bitching over penalties. It doesn't matter what team it is, some fans think the refs are out to get them all the time. What's funny is that they are the same fans that ignore a call when their opponent gets shafted. Bad calls happen, it's the nature of sports. Can refs fix games, sure they can. We have seen it and it is a very interesting topic we can talk about in another thread. However, most mistakes is just human error.

Another point. All I hear is Uconn sucked, if they didn't have drops it would have been close, if they tackled better, blah blah blah. Probably coming from people that predicted a Uconn win....which is funny.

well, isnt it true that if every one of Uconn's WRs didnt have stone hands, it may have been closer?

Just to play devil's advocate, I don't believe there was ever a time in the game when UConn was going to stop Michigan; therefore, I'm not of the mind that the game would have been any closer.

UConn's weakness is their passing game. Exactly scUM's weakness.
So, in retrospect we should have seen this one coming. And if UConn doesn't fumble at the goal line who knows how this would have turned out.
What I do expect is for most teams to attack that secondary. And I expect lots of shootouts. :tongue2:

eh

if butterfingers doesnt fumble inside the 5, Uconn likely scored a TD

and the dropped pass on the 1 yardline

thats probably 14 lost points

I dont think Uconn would had won either way, but it would had been a lot closer

Agree, Wins have been hard to come by the last 2 years(epecially 20 point wins over bcs conference opponents) and im not about to sit here and nitpick the reasons why the game should have been closer. It was a good way to start the season nothing more and nothing less.

I'm not saying I necessarily disagree with anything written here. What I find irritating is the commentators who are saying that UM dominated UConn and that UM was one of the most impressive teams of the weekend. Let's be honest here--UConn's defense was horrible, their coaching was arguably worse on both sides of the ball (I was really disappointed in Edsall), and UM got more than a few breaks when it comes to turnovers (recovering a UConn fumble inside the 5, and UM recovering three of its own fumbles). That game was light years away from being a domination.
