Starting rotation is set still with Beckett, Lester, Lackey, Bucholz and Dice K. They'll add some bull pen help and probably Russell Martin behind the plate.

latest rumors have them possibly signing Scott Downs.
solid lefty reliever. much needed addition if it happens.

Crawford in LF at Fenway?
possibly fastest OF in baseball playing in the smallest OF postion in the league.

Downs would be amazing. Adding him and Russell Martin would be huge gets for positions of need. They would need to add at least one more arm to the bullpen in addition to Downs. The closer position is a weak link as Papplebon is suspect... that's a tough fix, unless maybe Bard starts to slowly takeover the role.

The Sox desperately needed to bring some buzz back to Fenway. Their NESN ratings have been down, and in many cases, "fans" just don't want to pay top dollar for seats only to see a third place team. Mission accomplished.

they traded talent away for Gonzo, that's different then "buying them." but who cares. Awesome news. You got to spend money to compete in the AL East, it's just how it works. This team is going to be off the hook.

and yet the San Fran Giants didn't spend jack last off season and won a World Series. So the whole "buying all the talent" has lost some of it's luster with the Tampa Bays, Texas, San Frans, and so on being successful, IMO.

but you know, haters gonna hate.

Every once in a while a team wins with home-grown talent. Then the talent goes to New York or Boston. It's not even a question of "if."

This sport is a joke. It used to be my favorite, but I've come to see how only fans of large-market teams can enjoy the game on a yearly basis.

And how the hell are you a fan of the Red Sox and Wolverines in central Ohio? I'm not trying to insult you, I just don't get it.

I'm from Maryland and am a Buckeye & Red Sox fan........and also can't stand the Ravens. Granted, I definitely don't agree with his choice of NCAA team :scum4:, but nothing says you have to root for the home team

No, it's just odd.

I just wonder to myself if all these Red Sox fans in Columbus were Red Sox fans before they started winning. Maybe they were all closet Sox fans. :wink2:

I don't get people that hate baseball and everything it seems to stand for today, yet still feel the desire to waste their time posting about it and how much they hate it. Wouldn't you be better served just ignoring it and not wasting your time even posting about it?

Definitely need bullpen help. I'm glad Paps didn't end up getting traded. He had a bit of an off year last season, but he's still a great closer.
