good move by the Sox.

Sucks for Adrian Beltre though.
Dude had a great year last year, and just yesterday said he wanted to stay in Boston if he could.

He said that while in Boston at an Ortiz benefit, I'm sure he meant most of it but.... It's a business, he'll get over it, and get paid.

My mind is wandering and visioning lineups with

Carl Crawford
Dustin Pedroia
Kevin Youklis
Adrian Gonzalez
David Ortiz
JD Drew

do we have a shot at crawford?

As in the Red Sox? Yes, I think they will sign either Werth or Crawford... looking to make a statement after missing the playoffs and losing out on the likes of Texeria. They let V Mart and now probably Beltre walk... so they're going to use that money and some.

yeah, I'm a huge Sox fan. So by "we" I meant the Sox. I was surprised they let Martinez go, but he seemed like a liability behind the plate most games. I guess they are pretty high on this Saltamallachia kid.

Nice, Saltamachia's stock plummeted over the past year or two. They wanted him pretty bad about 2-3 years ago, and then were able to get him for a bargain after he tanked. I don't think he's the answer, but probably better than Varitek. I liked V Mart a lot, it seemed similar to what happened with Jason Bay, those guys wanted extra years on the contract that the Red Sox weren't offering. It sucks when you trade talent to get those guys for a year or two. I'd like to see them move Ellsbury for some bullpen help and replace him with Crawford.
