2010 polls - Pre-season and regular

Nevada's ranking is going to be highly inflated for Boise

their "best" win is over Cal at home.....Cal is 1-4 on the road (survived Wazzu)

they lost to Hawaii (who clearly is not very good, regardless of their record)

yet they keep moving up in the polls (18th in the latest BCS) for beating WAC patsies

Someone please tell me how Utah is still ranked? :(

Going off on a bit of a rant, but this all just makes me sick:

Because it makes TCU look better than they are and they need all the hype they can get? Regardless, I'm hoping some beatdowns of epic proportions are on the way. I still say anyone claiming TCU is 'for real' needs a reality check.

I'll reserve any claim of how real they are until the bowl games are over with. Right now they're still a joke playing against bigger jokes. My high school team went undefeated this year, might as well throw them in the mix as well. Oh, TCU beat Oregon State?? The same Oregon State who lost to Washington State? The same Washington State that lost every damn game on the schedule except for Oregon State and Montana State? They're 2-9.

No, but wait! They also beat #5 Utah! Utah lost to Notre Dame for God's sake. Did Notre Dame lose to Tulsa and Navy or should we act like that didn't happen, too? TCU being #3 in the country is a SCAM. Utah and Oregon State never should have been ranked.

If they want to form their own little football league and play for the championship every year, that's great. But don't dare put them above the big boys in the BCS when they haven't faced any of 'em. TCU and Boise State deserve more credit in the national polls than all the Big Ten and SEC teams? Really? Delusional much? Like I said... it's a joke.

The worst part is that if they're thrown into a huge BCS game, that's really the only thing they have to get up for all year. They haven't had to plow through the insanity that these other teams deal with all year. They've been playing pitch and catch against the lowest of the low. Then we toss them a banged up squad that had to battle through a ferocious conference and let them hang their hat on being the better team if they win. It's ridiculous.

Feels good to get that off of my chest. I just don't see how they stack up at all. People talk about weak schedules and such, but to me a weak schedule in the big conferences is a world of difference compared to what TCU and Boise go up against year in and year out. Trying to convince me that they're in the same league will never fly unless they start facing a stretch of stiff competition and still perform well. I don't even care to discuss where the fault lies when it comes to why they aren't in a good conference. The point is they aren't, so placing them at 3rd or 4th in the country is an absurd claim to me. I say keep them ranked in the 20s even if they go undefeated until they get where they need to be to deserve a top billing.

That's my buck and a half on the whole shebang.

you know, as much as the Wisconsin loss sucked and really deflated everyone, it might be a blessing in disguise. I don't think Ohio State's computer profile is high enough to keep them at #1 if they would have remained there anyway.

It's all dependent on the Wisconsin game of course, but it is only temporary. Once Nebraska is in the Big Ten next year the Big Ten will get more respect. This year the Big Ten and its scheduling is getting virtually no respect from the humans or the computers.

If you remember, before the Bucky loss the projected first BCS standings had Ohio State at #5. With everything that has happened this season, if the only thing that changed was Ohio State beating Wisconsin I wouldn't doubt we'd be #3 in the BCS, Coaches and AP.

We only had to remain #2 though and we had a pretty nice advantage in the polls. Our computer ranking also would have been better without the loss obviously. Regardless it would have been a much better position then we are in now. Even if we were #3 and were only counting on an Auburn loss..I'd feel pretty good about our chances.

Totally disagree about the Coaches and AP polls. If we had beaten Wisconsin, we would have stayed at #1...and with the three ass-whppings we subsequently put on Purdue, Minnesota, and Penn State, we'd still be #1.

AP doesn't matter. We would have stayed at #1 in both the Harris and Coaches. They only really look at final scores. The comps would have us in front of Oregon and the 2 Non Aq's at this point. I have done enough research on quality of wins to know we would be crushing Oregon in the comps. Auburn would still be ahead of us.
Per how the comps have been going here is what my assumption would be of the top 6 with us undefeated and the strength of wins stat.

1. Auburn - 5.91 (11 wins)
2. TCU - 4.91 (11 wins)
3. Ohio State - 4.90 (10 wins)
4. Oregon - 4.10 (10 wins)
5. LSU - 5.44 (9 wins)
6. Boise - 4.22 (9 wins)
Add 1 + 1 + 3 = avg of 1.66. If someone had 2 + 2 + 1 = 1.66 (Auburn). We would be in top 2, likely #1.

I have said it every week. What is up with the Big 12 love in the puters. Okie State at #6 and two loss Mizzou at #11 (Wisky is #12 and OSU #13)

Okie State's best win is Baylor ranked #21 at that time (now a 4 loss team)
Wisconsin's best win is Ohio State ranked #1 at that time (still a 1 loss team)

Neither team beat anyone in the nonconfrence. Yet Okie State is 6 and Wisky is 12. This is the most bizzare thing I have ever seen.

Lets throw Stanford in the mix as well. They are #5 in the computers.
Their best win was against Arizona, ranked 15 at that time (now a 3 loss team). They got pummeled by Oregon. How on god's green earth is Stanford and Okie State 5 and 6, while Wisky and OSU are 12 and 13.

(i forgot to mention that a 2 loss Alabama is sitting pretty at 9 in the 'puters and we are tied for #13 with a 2 loss Arkansas team)

Good points. I hadn't thought about Okla. St., but it did occur to me yesterday that Stanford's beaten no one, and yet is very high in the computers.
