2010 polls - Pre-season and regular

There's been a debate over at TigerDroppings about the Boise State/TCU thing and a TCU poster has been overbearing in his assertion that teams like Ohio State won't take a game with TCU. An Ohio State poster did a little research and came up with this gem. It seems that it is TCU that doesn't want to play the big boys of college football in OOC games now.

I tend to make my rounds.

FWIW, I believe it was Script or someone else who linked the article in the sCam Newton thread first.

Win a rivalry game by 30 points, and get jumped by Stanford in the Coaches poll.

USAToday

Has anybody ever heard a media member criticize Stanford for scheduling Sacramento State, or Wisconsin for scheduling Austin Peay?

can anyone explain to me the fascination with Stanford??

Between that and Ohio State being almost universally hated, there you go.

:smash: ah well, just apply a beat down against whoever the bowl opponent is, and hope the remainder of the B10 does the same (as much as it pains me, even scUM, as it's obvious, the Nation was not impressed by tOSU's beat down of them) The rest is out of our hands.

So did we with Wisconsin, just the opposite half...lol.

Neither Ohio State nor Stanford have a win against a team currently in the top 25. Both have one loss in the middle of the season on the road. Theirs is to #1, and ours is to #4. If you are trying to argue which team is better, you are splitting hairs. I guess it's just an arguement of whether the Pac 10 or Big Ten is better...but even if you think the Big Ten is better, which I do, to me it isn't better if you take out MSU and NW...the two teams we didn't play.

Good observation JXC, and if you look at the actual poll points, it's very close. I'm happy with 6 and I'm glad Wiscy moved up into the 4 spot. I think a game between tOSU and Stanford would be a great game, but we probably won't see it.

There have been some years when everything happens just right for us. This is not one of those years.

I wonder how many western voters who were pumping up Boise elevated Stanford after they shut out Ore St and Boise lost? We actually moved up a spot, but Stanford moved up 3 spots. What is it with beating Ore St? TCU, Boise and Stanford all got big boosts for doing it.

I'd be curious to see the western voters...some of whom might also be pissed about Gee's comments. Not saying it's fair or right, just saying humans are imperfect and some voters are idiots.
