2010-2011 Men's Basketball (Outright Big Ten & BTT Champs)

It's not Ohio State or really meaningful, but if the Missouri State player's celebration toss of the ball back towards the Creighton basket actually gone in (it missed by 2-3 feet), I think I would've died laughing.

My game story in the Sunday paper will focus on the veteran leadership that was at the core of Ohio State's 14-0 run that turned the game back in its favor in the last 13 minutes.

"Our leadership is phenomenal," freshman Jared Sullinger said. "There?s times when Dallas (Lauderdale) doesn?t play as much, and Dallas is always talking to me.

"They?re like other coaches. Sometimes you can?t comprehend what the (actual) coaches say . . . but coming from somebody that?s in your shoes and is playing the same game you are, it really helps you out and builds your confidence."

On ESPN's "College Basketball Final" tonight the first question that was posed to the panel was "who's number 2?" with the thought that (after Kansas' loss) OSU was the clear #1 and that it was tough to figure out who #2 is ... and the first person who answered the question was Jay Williams, who promptly said he felt Pitt was the #1 team in the country. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Did he not see the game against Tennessee that was @ Pitt !! Pitt got destroyed...

Oh well, doesn't matter I guess, both would get #1 seeds if it were March.

Pretty dumb move in my opinion. Local news made a big deal about the game as if they had beaten duke and advanced to the final four. But msu is 15-4 now and hopefully will actually make the tourney :)

Put the homer glasses aside - Pitt is a damn good basketball team. I don't agree with Williams, but his opinion isn't a ridiculous one.

I'd probably put Pitt as #2 right now.

but for Williams to say that now when Ohio State is undefeated is nonsense and I agree with DZ on this no matter how good Pittsburgh is right now they are not undefeated so until the Buckeyes lose one Pittsburgh should be ranked below them.

I really don't care what commentators/reporters/bloggers say about rankings. Sure, it's nice to say the Bucks are ranked #1 but in basketball rankings are mostly about bragging rights. The only things that matter:

1. Winning the Big Ten regular season championship
2. Winning the Big Ten tournament
3. Getting a high seed in the NCAA tournament (1 or 2 seed)

Achieving #1 and #2 will all but solidify #3.
