RR Defenses at WVU
Thought I'd go back and look at each year and some of the box scores & rankings. I would say that if you throw out Carr's 06 team as an outlier, than you probably should do the same for WVU's 07 season, which was much more consistent in being "good" than most defenses under RR's reign.
- 07 was a very good year statistically.
- They held teams to 14-24 pts, with few exceptions (LVille 31, OU 28)
- 06 wasn't great. 62nd nationally.
- Gave up 44, 39, 35 (to a backup QB)
- 05 was ranked 15th because of awful competition.
- Against good offenses: 44 LVille.
- Against top OOC opponents: 34 VT, 35 UGA. (both had good not great O)
- Against the 2 other I-AA teams: 7, 15
- Against the 7 other I-A teams:7, 19, 14, 13, 0, 13, 13
- The total off rankings of those 7: 115, 56, 44, 94, 96, 85, 79.
- 04 was 37th, but had some rough patches.
- 37 for BC (47th), 31 for FSU (61st), 30 for Rutgers (40th).
- Decent year (including 19 vs VT), but they also skipped #1 O Louisville.
- 03 was 73rd. Not a great year.
- Maryland beat them 41-7 in bowl, and 34-7 in season.
- Usually gave up about 20-30 pts in the final 9 games.
- 02 was 33nd.
- Gave up 34 to Wisky (83nd), 32 to Cinci (33rd), 48 to MD (41st), 40 to DaU (6th), 48 to UVA (80th).
- 01 was 40th. ESPN doesn't go back that far.

Yeesh.. You realize WVU was top 10 nationally in defense under RR? I cant remember the last time Michigan was sans the 2006 season when we had something like 8 nfl kids on our roster.
