Well, there you have it. He plans to rebound. No explanation necessary.

Great plan, coach.

Well, it surely is better than a motivational speech that my wife's boss gave at a Christmas party a few years ago. The speech basically came down to, "More of the same!"

Would love for him to give that one tho!

TheWolverine.com - Spring Game Preview: The Defense

Defensive Line

Overview: At the onset of the spring, Michigan's depth chart, especially at tackle, looked extremely thin.
Cornerbacks

Overview: With the return of junior Donovan Warren and sophomore Boubacar Cissoko, cornerback is an anticipated strength of the Wolverines. However, there is little depth behind them with only one scholarship athlete ? redshirt freshman J.T. Floyd ? to compete for playing time.

Redshirt freshman walk-on Floyd Simmons played at Cass Tech opposite Cissoko and has impressed this spring. He will receive plenty of looks this weekend.

Their defense is so fucked this year.

Unverified Voracity Meets Supervillain Punting Duo | mgoblog
Ryan Mallett is probably going to start for Arkansas this year, and good luck with that. He's also in the running to be probably the tallest punter in NCAA history, and the guy tutoring him is a blast from the past:
Arkansas special teams coach John L. Smith has no doubts about Ryan Mallett's ability to be a college punter. "If he were not a quarterback and could spend more time working at it, he could probably be a heck of a punter, maybe even punt at the next level," Smith said.
The entire state of Michigan just gave that paragraph the middle finger. Also, I know Petrino and Smith are homies and all, but you put your special teams in the hands of this man?
Razorbacks hold Saturday scrimmage - University of Arkansas Athletics
Quarterback Ryan Mallett finished 21-of-46 for 360 yards with five touchdowns and one interception
“Ryan got off to a fast start and did a nice job in his preparation and focus,” said Petrino. “He needs to relax a little bit and not get down on himself. I think his worst enemy is he expects so much of himself that when he makes a mistake he’s not able to put it behind him and move on.

Last year, everybody wasn't on the same page. They were on different agendas. That messed up the cohesion of the group and set us back. Everybody has bought in."

You lost to Toledo dickhead. At home.

You have deeper issues than group cohesion.

"We didn't win because generally we didn't deserve to win. Pretty simple," Rodriguez said. "That's hard to take if you're at a place like Michigan that's been to bowl games 30-something straight years. That's hard to take."
So according to Dick Rod, UM has a small package and doesn't deserve to win. Nice to have someone from up there that will admit these things.

Also, he seems a bit dismissive of breaking the consecutive bowl streak. I know even UM fans that expected a rough transition year still expected a bowl to keep that alive. Weren't they only a couple years away from the all time record (Nebraska).

but I'll elect to trust RR until he proves otherwise.

This is the most baffling thing I have read in a long, long, long time...and I just finished grading some Calculus II exams which covered infinite series, power series, and Taylor Series.

I mean seriously, trust the man who tried to break his contract (buyout) at WVU?

Marvin Robinson is rumored to be close, but I don't think UM will get a commitment this weekend from him. I do see him eventually committing, just not right now. I don't know how many of these guys will be in AA this weekend, but UM is sitting good with these defensive prospects: Lo Wood, Cullen Christian, Marvin Robinson, Spencer Boyd, LaTwan Anderson, Derrick Bryant, Sharrif Floyd, Caleb Lavey, Luke Muncie, AJ Cann, CJ Olaniyan, and Dior Mathis. Looks like a nice list of players. Still missing the DTs. Even though that's a thin spot this year, UM and RR have to make it a priority.

I see a lot of guys on that list who has interest in OSU but don't have offers.

YouTube - Vincent Smith Breaks

Every time I see Vincent on film, he reinforces his ability and UM's continuous allergy to tackling.

Good lord, someone please tell those scUM defenders that they are allowed to have their eyes open when they tackle. And that they are allowed to get their head in front and wrap up. I haven't seen tackling that bad except from about a third grade pee wee team.

On second thought, don't tell them.

Watching that in slow motion, it was a clinic on how NOT to tackle.
Smith looks like one of those guys who is used to going for the home run on every play. Might work in HS and against his own teammates, but usually not against elite defenses.
