2009 TSUN News (football only discussion)

Winslow definitely gets a shout out for his work in providing this thread with all of the current UM info, no slant included. This works well to appease our UM visitors, yet still provides enough laughter for any Buckeye fan.

...Although, you guys have a pretty informative site going here. I'm amazed at all the non-[strike]tuos[/strike]tOSU stuff. If it weren't for the trolls, most of the sites I go to would never have [strike]tuos[/strike] tOSU mentioned. Anyway, I like the site guys. You all seem to be quite tolerable and mature compared to the other [strike]tuos[/strike] tOSU fans I've been accustomed to.

Please do us (and yourself) a favor, and try to refer to Ohio State as tOSU (or tosu) on this site. :wink2:

Or just click here :).. get yourself a nice Helmet Stripe banner next to your name, and you might find yourself getting away with just a little bit more ribbin'. I did say might.

Redhawk, I think you were first (at least in this thread)

Sadly, the walkon was the only guy to make a semi-decent attempt to tackle him. 33 and 89 look like they couldn't tackle my grandma in a phone booth. Shoulder tackling? Wrap him up you jackoffs. Fundafuckingmentals. Sheesh.
 I'd love to hear Spielman mic'd up at a practice.

Big recruiting weekend... tons of talent coming in on both sides of the ball hopefully when can get some defensive commitments this weekend.
Who do you think it will be?

Marvin Robinson is rumored to be close, but I don't think UM will get a commitment this weekend from him. I do see him eventually committing, just not right now. I don't know how many of these guys will be in AA this weekend, but UM is sitting good with these defensive prospects: Lo Wood, Cullen Christian, Marvin Robinson, Spencer Boyd, LaTwan Anderson, Derrick Bryant, Sharrif Floyd, Caleb Lavey, Luke Muncie, AJ Cann, CJ Olaniyan, and Dior Mathis. Looks like a nice list of players. Still missing the DTs. Even though that's a thin spot this year, UM and RR have to make it a priority.

Good question... IMO theirs a chance Marvin commits, but I dont think it will happen. I also think their's an outside chance Torrian Wilson commits which would be a huge get, kid is a oline men out of Miami Northwestern who has an offer from Miami.

Up to 107 offers per the Beav. There tossing out 2-3 a day, and they aren't going to elite players.

Yeah, I'm a little confused by RR's tactics this year. Is it the "kid in a candy store" deal with him? I'm kind of agree with the notion that he's recruiting for UM now, NOT WVU. He should be able to recruit elite talent. Perhaps he's worried about the 3-9 season having a negative effect, which, I personally think doesn't happen. Anyway, it'll be interesting how the class turns out. Good start mixed in with some skepticism, but I'll elect to trust RR until he proves otherwise.

A prime-time OL would be a nice grab for you guys. It'd be better if he was a DT, but supposedly the DT talent is thin this year. Take what you can get, right?

Well, obviously you wanna grab an o-lineman or two every year, however, the OLine is one spot where there is a good amount of depth right now. DLine is a BIG concern, as are grabbing some pure LB prospects.

Checking in with ... Michigan's Tate Forcier - Big Ten - ESPN
What was the hardest thing to pick up? Was it the differences between this spread offense and the one you ran in high school? Was it the speed or the number of plays?

TF: Really, it was more understanding why they're calling this specific play at this specific time. A spread is a spread, no matter how you run it. I ran the same type of spread in high school, so there's no difference between it, except it's a little more complicated, obviously, because there's signals and everything, rather than just getting a play from a coach. It's more understanding why they're calling that specific play. But speed wise, I heard it was such a different speed, but I'm still playing at the same speed. It's not like my game's slowing down. You get used to it. You're going against kids that are just as good as you. The way I looked at it, I stepped my game up.
I know Pat White wasn't the biggest quarterback; you're not the biggest quarterback, either. As far as the physical development, do you have goals for where you want that to go in the offseason?

TF: I'm trying to gain some weight. My speed's fine. I'm not 40 speed, I'm more game speed. When I'm in the game, I'm a lot faster than I am when I run the 40. But just the weight, I'm trying to put on 10-15 pounds, and I want to get up to the 200 mark. I was actually up to 190 and I got sick. I had the flu, and I lost like 10 pounds, which kinda sucked. It's like everything you worked for, and all of a sudden it all goes down the drain. But I'm coming back and just trying to get up to 200 pounds. I feel like that'd be a comfortable weight with me, and I could maintain my speed. And then as far as goals, I want this team to go as far as I know we can go. Just being around the team so far and seeing how well we work together, how much of a rhythm our team gets in when we actually get going, I feel like we're going to do some big things next year.

Michigan Wolverines, Rich Rodriguez plan to rebound in 2009 - ESPN
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- It is still the University of Michigan, and all that means in college football. The Wolverines still wear the winged helmets. They still sing the best fight song on God's green earth. They still go to work in Schembechler Hall, and they still wear the maize and blue.

In the spring after going 3-9, they are still the Michigan Wolverines. One season removed from the most losses in the school's 130 years of football, they profess no doubt that 2008 will go down as a freak event, a snowstorm in July, say, or Keith Olbermann in repose.

Take the Sept. 27 home game against Wisconsin. The Wolverines trailed the Badgers 19-0 at halftime.

"Should have been 49-0," head coach Rich Rodriguez said the other day. "We're running up that tunnel, people were booing.

"People said, 'Did you hear them booing?'

"I said, 'You could hear them booing in Detroit. I probably wanted to join them.'

"Thank God, we came back and won that one."

The Wolverines scored 20 points in the fourth quarter to beat the Badgers 27-25. That would be a once-in-a-season comeback. Michigan lost to Purdue and to Northwestern. Michigan lost to Toledo, for Bo's sake.

"We didn't win because generally we didn't deserve to win. Pretty simple," Rodriguez said. "That's hard to take if you're at a place like Michigan that's been to bowl games 30-something straight years. That's hard to take."
