2009 TSUN News (football only discussion)

He was supposedly a backup his junior year.

Like I said, I'm shocked at the level of recruits this guy is taking. I never bought into the whole "ZOMG! RR is gonna dominate recruiting at um!!!11!!1!" crap that so many scUMmers were spewing when he arrived, but I figured he'd do better than this. I thought he'd at least get a handful of elite backs/athletes, but he just seems to be going after the same guys he would have at wvu.

yea

the Michigan fans reasoning seems to be "he is going to be playing a lot of young players so he is bringing in players that know the offense"

im sure he could find players who know the type of offense Michigan runs that arent random HS backups from Texas that have zero D1 offers and the instate programs in Texas have showed pretty much zero interest

Dick Rod would rather have a bunch of mid-low level slot WRs than solid offensive linemen and defensive players, that is not going to bode well for him when its all said and done

He may have been disappointed that a numbnuts hilljack like DickRod would be coaching at the same level as he, but he would not have been disappointed in Michigan football flopping around like a fish out of water...
once again I refer you to

Nothing that comes easy in this world is worth a damn.

the fact that Michigan was a challenge year after year is what drove Woody's hatred of them, if they weren't good and they weren't a challenge to beat Woody would have hated them about as much as he hated Indiana

Michigan being a consistently good to great team is what drove Woody's hatred, it is what drives our hatred, and it is what makes the rivalry great

beating Michigan last year was easy and the victory was not worth a damn, straight from the old man's mouth, if you want to keep arguing about this be my guest, but I will take what came out of his mouth over what you have to say

M*ch*g*n used to be real players for elite/5* guys. That just doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Is it because they're scared off by Dick's system? Or is he just not going after these guys as hard as the previous regime and instead just settling on the same types the brought him success at wvu? Because if he thinks that's gonna get him 10-11 wins a year up there like it did in the big east, he's even dumber than I suspect.
just look at the Michigan top 10 for 2009

Rivals.com Prospect Rankings

7 to Michigan State
1 to Ohio State
just 2 to Michigan

im sure Dantonio and Michigan State will continue to gladly take quality players from the state of Michigan while Rich Rod is out scrambling for a boat load of Slot WRs and undersized HBs in other states

I'll be brutality honest...just because you've read books on him and hang your argument on one quote doesn't mean you know jack fucking shit about Wayne Woodrow Hayes. He hated Michigan as much when they were 2-6-1 in 1958 under Bennie G. Oosterbaan as he did when they were 9-1-0 in 1964 under Chalmers "Bump" Elliott and as he did anytime they were under Bo Schembechler. Woody could give a fuck if they were 0-10 or 10-0 coming into The Game. He was just as happy with a win over a poor Michigan team as he was with a win over a great Michigan team. To him, Michigan was Michigan...period.

By the way, due to the nature of The Rivalry, winning against Michigan rarely comes easily, so his quote that you so dearly hang your argument on would apply to Michigan every single year. So before you go around here spouting off to members who were following Buckeye football over a decade before your parents even started fucking that you know more about Woody just because you can spew one of his quotes, maybe you should step the fuck back and read what others, who were around for much of Hayes' tenure, are saying.

Nothing? How about having a 3-way with Jessica Alba and Jessica Biel while watching the Buckeyes beat a Tebow-led Florida team to win the BCS Title game next January?

Give me 5 minutes alone to contemplate that and I'll get back to you.

So, you're saying Woody would be disappointed that Michigan is bad while at the same time he was purposely steering talent away from them? Ever hear of the word "contradiction"?

Woody is no way, shape, or form would be "disappointed" in what's happening to Michigan right now. He surely wasn't disappointed in the '50s and most of the '60s when Michigan stunk up the joint and he owned them to the tune of 12 wins to 6 losses, including an 8-2 stretch from '54-'63.

Woody would have loved 42-7...as a halftime score. Having driven over them, he would have reversed and run them over a few more times.

Woody Hayes hated TSUN with a passion that not even the sun could rival.

Are you really saying that Woody would have enjoyed last years victory more than the ones he achived during the 70's?

86, I think he would. Tressel is like Nicklaus was in his prime: ice. Woody, was the opposite: fire!

He absolutely hated them. If he enjoyed beating them in a close game, it was because it hurt them more. Woody was about war on the field of play. Any of us who met him and watched him speak know that his eyes lit up and he was on fire at the mention of the word "Michigan".

Woody quote: "...because I couldn't go for three..."

I can step back and understand that your opinion is different than mine, but that doesn't mean that I have to listen to what you are saying. :wink2:

I feel as strongly about what I am saying as you do about what you are saying. I think that can be the end of it.

At least they'll have another body to throw him the ball...if he doesn't hurry up and sign with Louisiana Tech first.

Yes, I said Tech. Not State.

MUNCHIE Legaux Names Leader - Scout ($)
Last Wednesday proved to be quite memorable for New Orleans, (La) Edna Karr QB Munchie Legaux. The dual threat signal caller saw Louisiana Tech join Tulane in extending an in-state offer. Shortly thereafter things got even more exciting when he heard that the University of Michigan was ready to take the plunge as well.
Louisiana Tech, Tulane, Michigan...seems about right.

I just have trouble watching Woody speak about Bo at a banquet shortly before Woody's death (as seen on the HBO special on the rivalry) and not think that all of the hatred and bravado aimed at Michigan from Woody wasn't at least partially an act to motivate his players or to increase interest in the rivalry or for some other end only known by Woody.

The amount of respect and admiration that Woody clearly had for Bo is incredible and I have a hard time believing that if Woody truly hated Michigan as much as you older folk seem to think he did that he would be able to admire and respect Schembechler as much as he clearly did.

Seriously Dick? Are you so arrogant that you think you can plug and play anybody into your system and get results? Well, I mean positive results.:rofl::rofl:

Thing about that is, I can't see Woody having the same respect and admiration for DickRod as he did for Bo.
