2009 TSUN News (football only discussion)

TSUN fans had better hope that Warren doesn't get hurt, or you'll be starting BooBoo (lol) and...who? Justin Turner? No. Depth. If a corner goes down (or anybody in the back 4 gets hurt), it's going to be a really long year.

I think they played on walk-on in their secondary already.

I'm guessing your arrogance was even stronger last year, and he went for 143 & a score. The kid can play.Aren't they going to be doing that again?

Overall, I don't see a secondary that can shut down an opposing passing game. Where I think UM could hurt MSU is in the trenches, although last week was an underwhelming performance (and Herron was a big liability in the running game). I see the pocket collapsing on Cousins and forcing a good QB into bad situations with his lack of mobility.

I agree with you. I don't see a secondary that can shut down an opposing offense. I do think that they can be enough of a nuisance to slow down teams with good passing attacks. What team will UM face the rest of the year that will have as good or better of a passing game than ND??? PSU and ........ I honestly think the difference between last year and this year on defense is night and day. UM appears to have improved their tackling, and they have been swarming to the ball. I think safety play has been a bit of a liability. I like Mike Williams, but not sure about Woolfolk.

Some of Bo's teams wore white pants. It's not gimmicky. Nor is it, to the best of my knowledge, true: I haven't seen anything saying it's anything other than message board speculation gone amok.

Yes, Bo's teams wore white pants a few years in the mid 70s. Nothing entirely new. Personally, I hope they don't. If they are going to make any change with the pants, I'd prefer to see blue pants. I hate all whites. PSU, Texas..... fugly

And PSU's weak secondary from last year has been gutted... so it might be an aerial assault that day if Tate can avoid the rush.

They took a few steps back in that department on saturday. We need to see how they do against an average team, since we've seen the results against awful & strong skill players in the first wto weeks.

I don't understand how safety play can such a consistently bad position at UM given the talent they bring in there.

I think the way you deal with an offense like NDs, one that likes the deep ball, is to get your safety to ring their bell a couple times, and they'll be thinking twice the next time they go deep. UM scheme didn't follow that. It was more of a bend, but don't break.

Hard to do when your playing against a Top 10 pick right now in Michael Floyd.
