Notre Dame:
06 - #2 class, 6 top-100, 3 5-stars, 12 4-stars.
07 - #11 class, 5 top-100, 1 5-star, 11 4-stars.
08 - #2 class, 7 top-100, 4-star, 14 4-star.

Your class has two 5-stars and 2 or 3 top-100 players per (Rivals/Scout). I'm not buying that this class dwarfs anything Charlie has done. Now whether he does better with it is another story.
No one said you shouldn't be happy about it, especially after last season. But calling it one hell of a class is quite a stretch, unless you meant simply for RR.

There are some substantial holes on defense, and once again his recruiting approach paid off on O but suffered on D.
Well, I didn't say "dwarfs" but, here.....this is by Rivals' reckoning, which for various reasons (none of which have anything to do with ranking Michigan higher) I trust more than Scout's:

2009: Michigan #7 class, ND #20
2008: Michigan #10, ND #2
2007: Michigan #12, ND #8
2006: Michigan #13, ND #8
2005: Michigan #6, ND #40 (that class was totally Willingham's fault, though - Weis was hired that offseason)

Scout might have ranked us #13 but they ranked ND #24 so....the point being, if this class isn't good enough to be "Weis-like" then either Weis is being grossly overrated or the class is being underrated.

Even with Rivals unreliable cumulative-class ranking system, UM '09 has 20 players rated 3-stars or better, while '06 ND had 27 such players, making your claim to having a higher-rated class based on a #7 vs #8 from different years quite negligible.

Is this dip[censored] so myopic to forget his own team's liability against any well-executed offense regardless of spread? Didn't Appy State run a spread?

What.
A.
Tool.
In fairness, it was some other tool that posted that, not supermod (he just deleted my truthy response). But they love to point out our struggles against supposed "spread" teams (they always include LSU :roll1:), all of which is covered by the "glass houses"...

Personally fellas, I want to see Michigan become a power once again. It's a lot more fun to beat them when they are good. Was anyone really up for the game last year? Honestly, I was at the game last season.......I felt as if we were playing Miami, Oh. I was rooting for Michigan to make it a game. That program really sucks right now......I want to see them get better. I hope Dick Rod can deliver. It's fun to have a nemesis.

I want to see the Big Ten get back to prominence. I am sick to tears of hearing about how slow we are, and how we choke. Quite frankly, it's true. We cannot dispel the notion that the Big Ten pretty much has sucked against the major powers of the past few years. It's fun to make fun of Michigan, but I view them the way you would view a little brother. It's cool for you to pick on them, and tease them......but when others do, you get a bit irritated after a while.

To wrap up my rant........I think it's healthy to root for Michigan. Let their fans get their swagger back.

With that being said, I will be the first to throw salt in their wounds when they are actually worth a damn. :scum4:

If we start winning the big OOC games again all the talk will go away regardless of what scUM does. It's on us, not the rest of the B10. Conference SOS is talk for when you can't simply say scoreboard. It doesn't happen if you win.

Personally I'd rather see us take care of business in the big games and still pound their pathetic asses while they are also losing to the Toledo's of the world every year. If we beat USC and win our Bowl game next year no one is going to give two shits what scUM does.

They aren't our little brother, they are our sworn enemy. Why would you ever want to see your blood enemy let up off the mat?

Ok, that's fair. That being said..........what if Michigan loses to Toledo and we get our asses handed to us by USC? We kill Michigan, but lose to Texas. Our only other loss, Penn St. gets railed by USC. Where does that leave us?

As for the "If we beat USC and win our Bowl game next year no one is going to give two shits" line........I beg to differ. OSU has killed their reputation nationally over the past few years. If they steamroll their way through the Big Ten next year, what will naysayers say? Probably "Who cares, Big Ten is pathetic". If they beat USC next year what will they say? "Who cares, USC lost a great defense, along with their QB.....Buckeyes should beat them at home". Sure winning the conference is tough........but winning a good conference is very tough. I really don't think the Big Ten has been good over the past two years. Penn St. was decent......Illinois in 2007 was like Illinois in 2001..........they didn't belong. Other than that.........what do you have?

I understand when you call Michigan a sworn enemy. I loathe them.......with that said, it's hard to call someone an enemy that cannot really produce a scratch on you in a fistfight. It's a bit like calling the remaining members of the Communist in Russia our enemies. Sure, history says that we hate them, I concur.......but they aren't really too relevant as of late. I do also realize that Michigan was almost looking at things from my shoes back before Tressel.........but remember one thing. Michigan was not at the level of present day OSU. Say what you want, we need a good Michigan program for the sake of the Big Ten.

again, our fault if we lose. What does scUM being good have to do with it?

You are talking about the ramp up to a Bowl game smack talk when people are going on and on about SOS/who deserves to be there etc. Win the game and no one talks about SOS. Who cares how the rest of the B10 does if we win our game?

The only way a weak B10 hurts us is if we have an identical record with another team and it comes down to a vote. I'll take my chances. Last I checked our problem wasn't getting into the NC game, it was winning it.

#1 bold-I can't abide by anyone going soft on commies. There was a day in the not so distant past when I would have had to call you a pinko. :wink2:

#2 bold-All joking aside, I disagree completely. OSU needs to take care of OSU's business. The rest of the B10 can rot. A weak conference never seemed to slow down Miami or FSU back in the day. Nebraska had their run in the 90's during a very bad spell for the B12 and OU in particular.

Do you really think we are hearing any of the weak B10 talk if we show up and play well against UF, LSU or USC the past 3 years let alone win one of them? I don't.

This whole post made me sick but especially this part. Ridiculous. :shake:

That's cool man. You can try to turn it around on me as some Michigan lover; anyone that knows my history would know that is completely the opposite of my actual views.

To call my post ridiculous is somewhat insulting. You don't insinuate why you feel that way, you just post a trite rebuttal.

Don't you find it a bit tiring to beat the same boring drum of how Michigan suck's......no matter the case? Don't get me wrong, when I see the winged tiped helmets, it makes me want to turn the channel. All that I am trying to say is that my "hatred" for Michigan isn't at the extreme level when they suck.

You guys can thump your chest and what not, but you are fooling yourselves if you believe that your distaste for that program is where it was before the game in 2006. I guess I find it a bit boring to go through the motions just because I am trying to impress myself.

No. All due respect you are flat out wrong in your assumption of my own personal feelings. My distaste for that program is worse now than ever.

Boring beating them when they suck? Maybe to you but we could win 100 in a row and I'll be dying to see #101.

I personally felt the same nerves leading up to the game, and didn't enjoy the beat down any less than previous years. If they became the Detroit Lions of college football I would just laugh, and enjoy beating them like I did last year, the year before, etc.

Just because they suck doesn't mean they're not Michigan. Fuck 'em.

Yes...........because we still lose that game. UF simply outclassed us, LSU was the better team......and as for USC, well they kicked our ass. I hate to say it, but it's true. Your are fooling yourself if you say that good competition does not help a team prepare for the big games. OSU has not had great competition inside of the Big Ten for a while now.

I'm not trying to play devil's advocate here......I am just trying to open up some of the narrow-minded vantage point that I feel some of our fans have adopted. Take off the blinders, the writing is on the wall man.

Jax is right. Let us keep our wits about us....

We have taken scUM down the last 5 seasons, and some of us run around like it has been a routine for generations. I am 28.. I remember the 90's all too well.. those ass-clowns did their cherry best to ruin my season year after year, without exception. I was repeatedly told OSU was no good, and was never going to be any good, and they wanted me to believe it, and almost had me believing it. It took a lot of losses to get me to that point, and we are not even close to being equal yet in payback.

But we have a pretty good start.

That's fine, I guess you are in the minority. Judging by the price of tickets before that game last season, and the lack of buildup...........well, I'd say most would agree with me.

THE freshmen at OSU last season were in junior high when OSU last lost to scUM. They were in diapers/height chairs when Howard did that Heisman pose... how do you expect them to feel the pain? They heard stories and/or watched highlights.. Not even close to understanding WHY we need to curb-stomp that ass...
