2009 TSUN arguments, shenanigans (not football)

Then just what he [censored] is he doing at the University of Michigan?

He was a transfer from Georgia Tech at a position in great need of some bodies at Michigan, and he wasn't offered a scholarship or recruited by Michigan when he was in high school.

RR pleaded with him to stay, unlike Big Tex. He also made promises about the offense he'd use, ones he did not fulfill according to threet.
Rodriguez didn't run Mallett off. Mallett left on his own will, and since day 1 of setting foot on campus Mallett was always a high possibility to transfer, and in fact he came very close to transferring under Carr. Once Carr retired and Loeffler was not retained that was it for Mallett, he was gone.
Once Carr retired Threet wanted to leave too.
So don't spin your b.s. and say that Rodriguez ran Mallett off. Mallett just didn't want to be at Michigan anymore, and the only thing keeping him at Michigan were Carr and Loeffler.
He certainly didn't try to get him to stay.

and last summer the party line was that the kid was a scholarship level player at a BCS school so we were idiots for making fun of him as a wlk on. :roll1:

Some of you guys should try out for the football team because I haven't seen a scUM DB backpedal this well in ages.

Nah, the mockery of the walk-on was for Sheridan, not Threet.

Please TRY to follow your own football team.

Antonio Kinnard is recruited to play the Quick position, currently manned by Herron. He's loosely similar to a 3/4 rush end (LB/DE hybrid), who they move around in the formation, drop into coverage, blitz the QB, etc. He's more of a DL than anything.

Marvin Robinson is recruited to play the Spinner position, where Stevie Brown will be at this fall. That is a S/LB hybrid. The guys backing him up have the bodies of safeties.

NEITHER of those are LB positions, where Ezeh, Mouton & Fitzgerald play. (Demens too)Some people aren't willing to be ridiculed endlessly. There are plenty of ways to be demanding as a coach without making players hate football, which has been a staple of RR dating back to WVU & Glenville.

Wrong.

I suggest you follow Michigan more closely before you spout off at the keyboard.

Antonio Kinard is actually being recruited by Rodriguez to play ILB.

Jordan Paskorz and Ken Wilkins are being recruited to play the Quick position.

In this defense, the spinner takes the place of one of the 2 "true LB'ers" on the outside in a normal 4-3, which in turn means that there will only ever be 2 "true" linebackers on the field, which in turn means the need to recruit as many "true linebackers" is reduced and the need to recruit more Spinner/Hybrid types is increased.

In terms of numbers, Rodriguez only needs 1 more "true" linebacker recruit. What he needs now is DT's, he needs to bring in at least 2.

But yet you just dont put any warm body on scholarship now do you? The coaches obviously felt like he was good enough to be a contributer but what do they know right?

Please.

Mallett only played as a freshman because Henne was injured and because of the fact that the CUPBOARD WAS BARE at QB. Michigan didn't have one suitable back-up because they had put all of their eggs in the Ryan Mallett basket, which in turn meant Mallett HAD to play as a true freshman when Henne went down with injury.

So don't spin your b.s. and say that Rodriguez ran Mallett off. Mallett just didn't want to be at Michigan anymore, and the only thing keeping him at Michigan were Carr and Loeffler.

And the cupboard at QB was extremely bare. That's what happens when you leverage the future of the most important position in your program on one kid (Mallett) and he winds up leaving before he ever even gets started.
More bull shit. It's one thing when Jwins knows more about Michigan than you, because he's been keeping pretty good tabs on that circus up north. But when I do....that's sad.

#1. No fucking clue. I know why Mallett started. The point was, he started as a true freshman. That's how you groom somebody to take over. That's why, before our OLine mess last year, Pryor was getting tons of playing time. You give them actual game reps and they get better...because it's obvious they're taking over next year.

#2. Taking a 5* top prospect QB and not bringing in several other kids who are good enough to start is not called leaving the cupboard bare. It's called other kids not wanting to sit behind the clear cut starter. Who in their right mind, as a legit D1 QB with aspirations of moving on to the next level (here I'm assuming that's what a program like Michigan is looking for), would want to go to Michigan to hold Mallett's clip board? That's not leaving anything bare.

#3. Rodriguez ran him off. Ask your insiders. No, he didn't want to be there. Guess what though. That shit happens all the time at every school. The good coaches and the coaches who aren't assholes (and some that are) go talk to the kid and try to convince him to stay. And probably 80% of the time the kid does stay. Maybe he buys into the coach's BS. Maybe the coach is right and it's best for him to stay. Maybe the kid doesn't want to lose a year transferring. But normally, the kid will end up staying.

Except, of course, when the new coach tells the kid to not let the door hit him in the ass on the way out. From what I understand, it would have taken one call from Rodriguez to Carr to get him to stay.

But where's the fun in that? Then you blind lemmings wouldn't have the Mallett Excuse to use.

The same reason you do so with Threet... so you don't have to start the Coner.who was then started over Threet.

Starting Sheridan over Threet proves that Sheridan is no mere walk-on, Josh. I suggest you learn a bit more about the UM program before you start spouting off at the keyboard. :shake:
