2009 TSUN arguments, shenanigans (not football)

Copying my post from a scout discussing claiming that lloyd left the cupboard bare, using the projected 4-man draft as evidence:

Lloyd left the cupboard bare compared to OSU/ND... maybe PSU (though I might debate that, at least in 09).

Boren, Mario & Mallett were first-day caliber picks left for RR. There probably wasn't a chance of reconciling those 3 with RR's style, but those are main courses from the cupboard which were stolen by others. That's not leaving the cupboard empty, it's stocking it for a different consumer.

If Lloyd coaches in 08, the 09 draft probably looks like this

09 - Mario 3, Taylor 4, Trent 6, maybe Arrington 7?
10 - Mallett 1, Graham 1, Warren 2/3, Minor, Mesko......

Those two would be about like most UM classes, with 10 being a pretty strong one.

Is 4 projected draft picks really that "down" for UM? It looks like majority of UM drafts had 5 or less picks.

  • 08 - 1, 2, 3, 3, 6, 7
  • 07 - 1, 2, 2, 2, 5, 6, 7
  • 06 - 4, 4, 7
  • 05 - 1, 2, 2
  • 04 - 1, 3, 7, 7
  • 03 - 2, 2, 3, 6, 6, 7
  • 02 - 3, 4, 5, 7
  • 01 - 1, 1, 1, 2, 2
  • 00 - 2, 4, 4, 6, 6, 7
  • 99 - 2, 5, 6, 6
  • 98 - 1, 3, 3, 4, 5
  • 97 - 3, 4, 7
  • 96 - 1, 2, 4, 5, 7

That story on the Ozone was classic

"The Blues will be bluer, the maize, maizer"

"Insight Bowl Participant"

"Didn't prepare his players for Rodriguez's offense"

:slappy:

I can tell you understand the rivalry - somebody gave you a button.

Yep, Lloyd left the cupboard bare, and RichRod is out stocking up on Moon pies and pork rinds....

At least in the case of Weis, the "bare cupboard" argument does hold some weight, because he really did pick up the level of recruiting at Notre Dame over his predecessor. However, in two recruiting classes, RichRod has landed a handful of blue chip prospects, a few mid-level prospects, and a whole lot of kids who no other major program was even recruiting. The talent level in Ann Arbor isn't getting better under RichRod, it's getting far worse. Now, maybe RichRod will put on his wizard hat and turn a bunch of no-name recruits into All Big Ten performers, but I doubt it. For those who say, "Well, he did it at West Virginia!" ... I say, "West Virginia ain't in the Big Ten."
