Ohio State been ranked #1 in the AP poll more almost four times more than Cincinnati has been ranked anywhere in the AP (93 vs. 25). So Bearcat chest-thumpers can fuck off and die...

My 2 cents...
As both a fan of Buckeyes and Bearcats (4 years undergrad tOSU, cheered in Block O, and 2 at UC rallying the student section) I still can't understand how people are getting so worked up about these rankings. AP doesn't even matter, and it's not like these two teams are going to even be matched up until 2012. To be totally honest, BOTH teams still have a lot of proving to do, and until then, there's no point in arguing about one ranking being off. Here's my two cents, even though I know no-one asked:
My Bearcat point of view:
-It's exciting to be this highly ranked; unlike the Bucks, Cincinnati is not used to having a football team that actually has talent and a record that starts to show it (Bengals included...). Don't be surprised when people get excited, especially after living in the shadow of tOSU (with media attention, recruitment, etc.) for decades.
-Cincy still isn't even given the light of day by several tOSU fans. Sure, if these teams DID play you could argue one way or the other all day, but to dismiss all of Cincy's talent is mere homerism (i.e. "oh it'd be a blowout...56-3")
-Cincy is 5-0, tOSU is 4-1. If SOS doesn't count (which for OSU/UC is negligible in some computers), that makes things real simple. With SOS it's hard to compare apples to apples, rivalries and away games and injuries and everything. Even the SOS calculators can't distinguish between a few SOS rankings without becoming a bit arbitrary, and with Cincy and OSU being close in some of the computer rankings, it's hard to tell if it's even worth considering.
-UC doing well has no real effect on tOSU. They don't play now, they probably won't play in BCS even if they both win out, so why are so many Bucks threatened by a ranking? Are they afraid of an editorial piece questioning their ability? In the end, football is played on the field. Things have a way of working themselves out.
My Buckeye point of view:
-The "better-than-you" talk is definitely obnoxious, and many UC fans are as guilty as OSU fans when it comes to ignorant viewpoints of the opposite team. Several here in Cincy hate tOSU just because they steal all the spotlight, and now everyone's making up for lost time.
-If SOS DOES count, that tOSU 4-1 record is about as good as UC 5-0. It just depends on how much you really think SOS should count (anyone want to do some math?)
-Why UC jumped tOSU during THESE games is still beyond me. IMHO both games weren't worth attention. If UC jumped last week when winning over Fresno, at least I could understand that. Nevertheless, there's still alot of football to be played, and again, things have a way of working themselves out. Buckeye fans get a hurdle of end-season games to cross, and Cincy's being tested as soon as next Thursday with @USF.
-tOSU is getting hurt from a national perspective; that USC loss will continue to affect the rest of the season even if it shouldn't, and that's just the way it goes. People are tired of giving the benefit of the doubt to tOSU, and it could be hurting them in rankings.
All in all, just win games and don't bother with teams that you can't actually verify your claims with a W on the field.
This is both the best and worst time to be a huge fan of these two teams... go Bucks and Bearcats!

Opponent W-L record: 7-16
Opponent W-L record without 1st game against Oregon: 3-15
Did I mention that 28,5% (2/7) of those opponent victories came against teams in divisions below the FBS?
Oregon is a quality win but it was a home game the 1st week of the season.
Why are these guys ranked in the top 10?

Yes teams like Utah and Boise State havebeaten teams like Oklahoma and Alabama but that is about as hard as those teams will ever play. Still i would like the WAC type teams play a little tougher non-conference schedule so we can actually see what they are like.

And if you look at the current records of future opponents, if their SOS to date is comparable, then Ohio State still faces higher quality opponents.
A loss by Cincy or Boise St should translate into considerable changes in the computer and poll rankings.
