Michigan trying to schedule Delaware
Michigan has contacted Delaware regarding paying a visit to Ann Arbor for a nonconference game, Keeler said. He added it is unlikely Delaware would be interested, since he would prefer a nonconference schedule concentrating on I-AA home games, which can earn Delaware as much as most I-A road games and give the Hens a much better chance at winning. ... Keeler said the defensive line didn't have a single missed assignment against Furman, and that ends Ronald Talley and Matt Marcorelle "played like All-Americans." ... Senior quarterback Trevor Sasek of Spring-Ford (Royersford, Pa.) has verbally committed to Delaware, according to published reports in that area.
Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of their helmets?

Cass Tech's Thomas Gordon will choose between U-M and MSU on Friday

One of the top uncommitted prospects in Michigan for the class of 2009 is Detroit Cass Tech's Thomas Gordon. The PSL star has seen his stock rise significantly the past few weeks and he recently earned scholarship offers from both Michigan State and Michigan.

Prior to this weekend, Gordon had indicated that he would make his decision after his team plays arch-rival Detroit King on Friday. However, last Sunday, Gordon told Rivals.com that he was going to move his decision back until after his senior season and take official visits to both the Spartans and the Wolverines.

That has apparently changed and Gordon is now set to announce his decision this Friday after his game, to which kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. Gordon will select between the two in-state schools.

Gordon is rated the No. 91 athlete in the nation for the class of 2009 and will likely play safety in college.

If Gordon does commit to Michigan State, he could have a chance to play early since safety is one of the positions of greatest need for MSU coach Mark Dantonio next season. The Spartans graduated two safeties last year, will lose All-American candidate Otis Wiley after this year and projected 2009 starter Roderick Jenrette is currently not with the team.

In order for the Spartans to land Gordon, the trend of Technicians heading to Ann Arbor will have to be broken. Dantonio has done a great job of connecting with Detroit PSL coaches, but Cass Tech is viewed by many as a stronghold school for the Wolverines. The list of Cass Tech players that have gone on to wear the maize and blue is extensive.
In recent years, a few Cass Tech stars have opted for other schools and experienced a great deal of success. New York Jets linebacker Vernon Gholston snubbed both the Wolverines and Spartans for Ohio State  and 2007 graduate Joseph Barksdale is already starting on the offensive line for 2008 NCAA Champion LSU Tigers.

You know I've been believing it

Admittedly, much more than I did about two and a half hours ago, or after the Notre Dame fumblefest. I don't think they will, but I think they can, if the chips fall right. Yeah, it would be a lot of chips. But that was probably the third toughest game on the sked.

Behind Utah and ND? :p

And your luckiest game in half a century. Face it, you guys might lose to NW, or whomever you are playing next week.

With how inspired MSU plays against UM, I wouldn't go that far yet. That is assuming Ringer isn't dead by then. Hoyer's about like Everidge (not a good thing), but MSU has a lot better WR play (and don't wait to play their best weapon until the 4th qtr).

It will certainly be an interesting year. Still completely impossible to predict how Michigan will play.

I've seen quite a bit of scUM this year, and I have to say offensively, with a few plays the exception, they are more pathetic than I anticipated, but not by much, the lack of a quality option at QB to run rr's system hurts them here. The O-line actually looked decent on some occasions today.

Defensively, they have done enough to win a couple of games, but though they have some talent on the defensive side, I don't know if they deserve the credit or if the opponents offenses have just been offensive during scUM's successful times.

I agree it is difficult to tell what exactly you'll get with them. They do have some talent and could beat just about anybody on their schedule, but by the same token, they make enough mistakes, that they could lose to anyone on their schedule.

Agree with that last, but that's an improvement over the general consensus before the Wiscy game. Things are looking up.

As far as the QB, you're not convinced that Threet can run the system after his 58-yard burst yesterday? He's proven himself to be a decent runner and not just on that play. He's obviously not Pat White (as Nessler/Griese/Announcer Diabeetus pointed out about 40 times yesterday) but I'll tell ya: if Anthony Casillas had not chased him down on that run, Shane Carter was not catching him. Classic RR play.

How many of those do u really think he is going to get this year. He is just keeping the position warm till your 09 QB recruits get there. He is a below-average college QB. :)

the one thing i will give scUM props for, is their conditioning, against Wiscy they clearly controlled line of scrimmage in 4Q, in past years they faded down the stretch.

I think the legend of Barwis is exagerated but he has done a good job.

I would have liked to see our DL get consistent pressure on the QB against Minn, late when we knew they were passing.

The Wisky game may have actually made it tougher for UM to win games this season. Going forward, no one else is going to take their foot off the gas, regardless of their lead.
