2008 Football Rumblings

Agreed. What I was trying to say is while getting Rehring back is a plus, I won't like it if it knocks Cordle back to center and Brewster out of the starting line-up. I'd like to see Boone-Rehring-Brewster-Cordle-Browning.

Person has been one of the better lineman the past 2 weeks and you want him out?

Well, I don't think you even blink about Rehring going back in.

So that leaves Cordle and Person in a battle for that spot (if they decide Brewster is going to be a mainstay).

I think that battle would be far from decided right now BUT Person has stepped his game up the last couple of games.

Aside from his holding penalty that wiped out out lone TD at USC...

Quite a few seem to agree that it was a "bogus" call.

I honestly don't know if we have a better choice than Person at that guard position. The only other possibility is Browning? But, then who goes to RT? Shugarts? Maybe that weakens the O-line.

Cordle played a damn fine game at guard IMO.

Obviously you go back with Rehring at LG...I would stay with Brewster at C and Person at RG...Which leaves Cordle as the odd man out...My only question then becomes are we ok in terms of line calls as Cordle seems to make a lot of them...

whether it was a bogus call or not, the action that he took made the TD possible, otherwise boeckman gets hit and this is a moot point.

Its not like it was a holding call away from the play. it made the execution possible.

IIRC, that throw was Boeckman's first read, in other words, he threw the ball relatively quickly and wasn't sitting in the pocket looking all around for an open receiver...it's not like Person was asked to provide 5 seconds of pass protection. If he had to resort to holding to keep Boeckman from getting hit, then he's not doing his job.
