2008 Bracketology Discussion

What, I can't make out your words, Wisconsin's Big Ten Trophy is blocking my monitor.

Wisconsin won by 17 points by the way. Hey, didn't you lose to Michigan? Wisconsin's only incentive in the Big Ten Tournament is to avoid an early loss. We can't improve our seed by winning the tournament the way Delaney scheduled the final as a lead in to the selection sunday. I'd just as soon rest everyone to avoid a crushing injury (like last year's) in this meaningless exercise.

Last time I checked, George Mason got an automatic bid. What does George Mason have to do with an at large discussion?

I want Ohio State, and everyone who makes a tournament, to earn their bids. 2-10 (if you lose today) against the RPI top 50, both wins coming at home, is not earning a bid. I've been consistent for years that my own personal criteria is the ability to beat teams who are actually in the tournament, in the tournament situations or tougher in which you'll actually play them (road or neutral). I'm not making an exception just because I kind of like you. I'm not an OSU fan, thus my support is not blind. It's conditional. You're welcoming to outside opinions......as long as they're consistently positive in your favor.
The Weasels have their good days and they have their very bad days. You guessed them on one of their latter and we had them on one of their better.

I brought up George Mason because it is an example of who makes up the whole tournament field not just at-large bids. It is my belief that they should let everyone in and I have felt that way for years.

You are one of the few posters here who did not care if Ohio State won today or not. You are just a tournament expert. You better go over to ESPN and win some big money since you are such an expert.

I knew Wisconsin fans had an excuse as to why they were bounced in the second round of last year's tourney and were almost bounced by a #15 in the first round. It couldn't have been that they were terribly overrated or anything.

The same Wisky team that handed OSU one of it's four losses last season? The same Wisky team that gave OSU everything it could handle when they played in Columbus late in the season?

Yep, same one. Wisconsin at home (where OSU lost by a whole three points and had a shot at the buzzer to send the game to OT, if you recall) is an entirely different team than Wisconsin on the road or on a neutral floor. Maybe one of the teams that depends on home court advantage the most in the NCAA, from what I've seen.

Arkansas is sitting at 41 in the RPI and they're leading Vandy late. Vandy is in easily, but the Hogs are on the bubble. I think we need the Commodores to knock 'em out.

A game that they had in control until they forgot how to shoot free throws. And OSU beat them by what in Columbus? A point?

Losing their best big man and getting knocked out in the 2nd to a very good UNLV is nothing to cry about. Upsets happen all the time in the NCAA tourney, I don't find that as conclusive evidence that they were necessarily overrated.

Arkansas 81
#17 Vandy 75

I think the Hogs locked up a bid there.

Arkansas was already ahead of OSU as far as getting in the tourney. I dont think this really hurt us that much.

Well, one thing is for sure, it definitely doesn't help us. :wink2:
