2008 Bracketology Discussion

I think you will see UD officially announce Wright's clearance to play today or tomorrow... Those that have served on the committee before claim that a situation like this most definitely will get consideration, due to the fact that they consider the entire body of work for the season...

I think if Xavier knocks off St. Joe's, UD is better than 75% to get in...

Didn't Wright get cleared to play before the A10 tourny?

Does this mean that you like Dayton more than our Buckeyes were does this mean that you just want Michigan State to beat our Buckeyes so it might help Dayton get into the tournament. I think you should let Dayton handle its own business and you root for our Buckeyes.

I will also say that the Big East might be the strongest conference in the country but I also believe that they get a lot of love because of the East Coast media.

In basketball I'm a Dayton fan first, Duke fan second, tOSU fan third... I'm a Dayton alum but was born and raised on tOSU football... Basketball was an afterthought in my household, so I formed my own allegiances there...

Agree about Dayton handling their business, but I feel their body of work should be considered... With Wright this team is likely 25-6 at worst with wins over Pitt and at Louisville (and likely 2 over Xavier)... With a high RPI and quality non-conference wins, Dayton deserves it just as much as any of the other bubbles...

Nope... Cleared to participate in warm-ups, but not play yet... That's why he wasn't in...
He's been doing light work in practice and jumping rope... He was throwing down in warm-ups the last two days, but he hasn't been officially cleared yet...

Bubble Watch: Buckeyes one big win from tourney

Bubble game of the day: Ohio State vs. Michigan State, 2:30 p.m., ESPN, Big Ten quarterfinals.
Means more to: Ohio State.
Record: 19-12.
Vs. RPI Top 50: 2-9.
Vs. Top 100: 6-9.
Why the Buckeyes are in trouble: Offense has been an issue throughout the season, from the time when OSU was averaging 50.5 points in consecutive pre-conference losses to North Carolina and Butler to the Buckeyes scoring fewer than 70 points in 14 Big Ten games. The 1-2-2 zone defense Thad Matta cooked up to suit this particular team has worked well, but he hasn't been able to do much about getting supremely gifted freshman Kosta Koufos the confidence to convert point-blank shots (only 50.6 percent on 2-point attempts). If Koufos were able to consistently draw in the defense, there would be more room on the perimeter for Jamar Butler and Jon Diebler to operate. The other element lacking in the Buckeyes attack is free throw attempts; they just don't get fouled often enough. No player has been to the line 100 times. All this has caused there to be a number of close losses, including road games to Iowa, Michigan and Minnesota -- three teams that have no shot to make ! the field. OSU rallied with home victories over NCAA locks Purdue and Michigan State in the final week. Another win just like that last one could put the Buckeyes onto the bracket.

Unless Ohio State takes care of business today, I don't think there should be any "OSU vs. Dayton" pissing matches. Ohio State has the better overall program, but Dayton has had a relatively more successful season and they would deserve to be rewarded appropriately. Both teams have had their chances, but if Ohio State doesn't earn it today, they don't deserve it.

That said, Go Bucks!

With Dayton and Ohio losing to their Arch Rivals, I don't know if I can handle an OSU loss today.
Ohio walloped George Mason during the bracket breaker weekend by around 15 points if not more and George Mason is in the tournament. I think they should let everybody in but that discussion would deserve its own forum:biggrin:

Oh My! You do have issues. Duke #2. You really do need to see someone:wink2:

:)... Like I said, Dad coulda cared less about basketball... I was about 7 when Duke played Louisville and Pervis Ellison in the finals, and that's when I started liking them... Johnny Dawkins, Mark Alarie, Danny Ferry, David Henderson, Tommy Amaker... And my 2nd cousin was on that team, Marty Nessley from Whitehall, OH...

I'd be thrilled if UD can get in along with tOSU... I just am rooting for the best possible chance for the Flyers...

You must have some pretty tall genes in the family:biggrin:
You have had enough years to get over Duke by now. My brother likes them but I hate them for lack of a better term.

Why would I want to get over them? I love to watch them play :)... Plus I went to K's camp when I was in Jr. High and got to learn from him several years... He's one of the best human beings I've ever met...

Those genes are through marriage, so I ended up missing out on them :(...
