Mario suspended for EMU
Michigan wide receiver Mario Manningham is not expected to play Saturday against Eastern Michigan after violating a team rule.
Multiple people with knowledge of the violation confirmed his one-game punishment.
Perhaps weed again? Besides the rebuilt offense, will AA & MM stay in college another year to struggle keeping their noses clean?

Super Mario, The reason that they were all in trouble in the first place was because they were smoking weed and drinking before the rose bowl and our SS Jamar Adams supposdley went and told Carr.
There was also a rumor in the offseason that mario was in a car pulled over, with weed in the vehicle. I'm not sure that such was ever verified, and I can't find record of it in this thread.

Yeah, he'll be sorely missed against that vaunted Eastern Michigan pass defense... :roll1:

Normally i'd roll my eyes at a team suspending their star verse a weak team, but i'll accept it right now, because Michigan has a lot more to lose by going down to Eastern; and its not an impossible result.

One more team thats going to have 9+ guys waiting for Hart to run into 30+ times. Now they have even less reason to back off.

Manningham was singlehandedly carving up NW's secondary. Didn't he have like 10 catches? Without him, I'm not sold that scUM wins that game. Is EMU really that much worse than NW? They run the spread right? Uh-oh. It's a thing of beauty that I think scUM could actually lose this game.

Yeah Mario had something like 10 grabs for 120 and a td.

Part of the reason why Hart is getting so many carries is because the coaches don't trust Brown and Minor anymore. They fumbled a couple times early this season and Hart obviously never fumbles. Next year, a core group of Grady, Minor, Brown and McGuffie would be nice. The O-line is a concern obviously (Jake Long is unreal, especially in run blocking) but Michigan has a tendency to produce great linemen, so I'm confident they'll find someone.

So the coaches don't trust Minor and Brown anymore, but yet "a core group of Grady, Minor, Brown and McGuffie would be nice"??? Grady isn't a tailback and McGuffie is a true freshman. That group reminds me a lot of your DB's this year. Overhyped freshmen and a ball of mediocrity.

Are you saying, if you're going to hit the pipe, do it before the EMU game?

I will admit to wondering when the coaches became aware of the "violation of team rules", and whether they waited until the week of the EMU game to hit him with the suspension.

Pure speculation on my part to think that would even be considered in AA.

They were all saying the same type of "I'm confident they'll be ok" kind of thing coming into '07 about the defense. Coming to grips with the fact that their team does not just reload anymore is another thing they are having issues with in AA.

Other than a coaching change I don't see what happens in '08 that would lead one to expect a better team than what they have in '07. I'm sure they have a long list of reasons they will be better off without Hart, Long, Henne, MM etc but thats just blind fan homerisim.
