A major concern for Michigan is where does this leave the running game next year? They seem to have very little faith in the backups. Will they be bailed out by another true frosh?

The inability to put teams away can cost teams dearly moving forward, with very green backups being forced into starting roles, as we saw in 04.

It will be interesting to see if Mallett progresses when he's in. The offense certainly takes a few steps back when he is in (understandable for a true frosh). Can Henne stay healthy against Wisconsin, MSU's Saint Dic, or Ohio State's aggressive defense? If not, where does the much maligned Debord go from there?

I gotta tell ya, running Michael Hart 40 times/game (in unnecessary situations), and letting a senior QB with a likelihood of being a first day pick play with a partial ligament tear in his knee (if he indeed play under these circumstances) seem like he is getting desperate without concern for their future....
I'm not sure what kind of future Hart has in the NFL... i think he'd be a solid backup to carry it 6-10 times a game. I do agree he is logging serious mileage, though.
Actually, I'd say Chris Perry beat us.
I think UM's OL won that game, they did a great job against the stellar OSU DL... a rare feat.

As for Henne, his draft stock took a hit against Oregon, and a lingering injury is another red flag. Springing back and gutting it out may prove valuable come draft day. I still have no idea when he hurt his knee, from watching that Oregon game.

-I say forget the NFL for now, will Hart be in one piece by week 12? I'll repeat what I have said several times.....2007 tsun would be lucky to beat ANYONE left on their schedule if Hart is out.

-Tsun next year? Mallet, new left side of the OL, new TBD back, MM probably gone, still serious questions on D, probably new coaching staff....all coming to the Shoe. Its going to get a bit worse before it gets better up in AA.

-Henne's NFL future looks about as bright as Navarre's to me but what do I know? Brady looked like nothing special in college too.

None of their backup RB's get any significant minutes. Minor gets some carries but not as many as a #2 should get, considering #3 doesn't really exist. They just keep running Hart into the ground.

Part of the reason why Hart is getting so many carries is because the coaches don't trust Brown and Minor anymore. They fumbled a couple times early this season and Hart obviously never fumbles. Next year, a core group of Grady, Minor, Brown and McGuffie would be nice. The O-line is a concern obviously (Jake Long is unreal, especially in run blocking) but Michigan has a tendency to produce great linemen, so I'm confident they'll find someone.

In large part because their backs seem to run the football onto the ground.(Whoops sniper beat me to it)

MM & AA will likely make the plunge together... either this year or next (my bet is on the former).
