Sorry, EMU fans probably won't have much to cheer about at the Washtenaw County Championship, but maybe they can hold off AA Pioneer for second place :wink2:

I realize that there's as much of a chance as a snowball making it from one side of hell to the other; however, this is the best chance in a LONG time that the Eagles might make it interesting. I don't hold out hope.

Agree. Their schedule+their defensive weakness vs the spread= chance for some serious floundering down the stretch.

When Michigan starts out fast, they usually tend to flouder late. However, this year they are young and haven't found their comfort zone yet, and that has cost them a couple of games early. But I expect them to get better, actually a lot better because of their young guys hitting the learning curve and their veterans getting on the same page. While Illinois and Purdue do have capable athletes, they don't have enough of them. It wouldn't suprise me if Michigan were to win every game from here on out until the Game.

Youth is not the reason tsun struggles with spread teams. They can't fix what's broken in that department mid season imo.

The only advantage tsun will have over Minny, Purdue and Illinois is if their run game can just dominate and keep the other teams O off the field. Thus the catch 22 for tsun in 2007. They must run Hart 30+ times a game to have a chance to win....Hart probably can't stand up to that kind of beating for a whole season.

I can honestly say, all my anti-tsun bias aside, I don't think they can win a single game if Hart isn't playing or is significantly slowed down from injury. That defense and Henne alone can't beat anyone.

That actually might be a smart move, no?
Definitely if he can turn them into DB's this year. Also he has started out each game in a zone D and then changed at the half to man to man, which of course the Opp hasn't seen and it is then too late to make halftime adjustments. I also hear Carr is going to to start calling a time out every time an Opp team is ready to snap the ball on FG's .

I made that last part up. :wink2:

There's no question that Michigan lacks talent on defense. But this is not a new issue with Michigan. Heck, if you go back to last season, they barely squeaked out a win against Bowling Green...at home. And that was a team that many considered the rightful opponent for OSU in the BCS Bowl. Granted, they don't have Leon Hall, or Lamarr Woodley or Alan Branch this season. But from the last three games, the pattern has returned to normal...Michigan is starting to beat teams that suck even more than they do. And there is a lot of teams that suck more than they do in the Big Ten. This is no joke. They killed ND. They beat PSU. They knocked off NW. This is Michigan cruising in the a sea of mediocrity and below mediocrity. My bet is that they'll have a pretty decent record by the time the Game rolls around.

I don't know who all tsun plays but if they play Ill it will be as the dogs.
Wisc plays their style but will still be a very hard game, Purdue plays the spread, thats bad for tsun, and if Dantonio can play a little spread he just might beat them. Yes Mich is beating the easy teams now but the teams with better teams and wideouts are coming up and like I said , You can't fix slow.

you can't fix slow. Carr is moving Wr's to DB to get more speed back there.

Well, the smart move would've been recruiting some DB's that could cover someone...

Well according to Ron White you can't fix stupid either.

I guess you can trace my skepticism that Michigan will lose to all those teams to this: what's different about those teams this year than last year? Illinois? The same Illinois that lost its opener at home to Missouri? That scored 21 on W. Illinois? Minnesota? PSU was supposed to be better this season, and look what happened. Same old story. Michigan State may finally hold on to a game and not choke. But who knows, maybe Manningham grabs a couple of TDs early. There is a long way to go and there are a lot of horrible teams in the Big Ten, so we'll have to wait and see how it all shakes out.
