Morelli's flaw is that he thinks too much before he releases the ball. Michigan QB's under Lloyd Carr have excelled because they just don't think at all, they say 'fuck it' and heave a jump ball 60 yards down the field. So, I've got to agree with SNIPER26 here. I think Mallett's experience (or lack of it) is being overrated by the board. I'm quite certain Mallett knows how to throw a deep jump ball to Manningham, that's been Henne's best attribute for years.

I find I am on SNIPER's side of this argument. Y'all keep dissing scUM because they lost to a I-AA team. But App State is a legitimate top 25-30 team in the nation, regardless of division. scUM took them to the wire. The better team won, but still, scUM's performance kept them close. They've got a shot at JoPa State.
They are not.

If you say Tennessee, I happen to think they were wildly overrated last year, but that's just IMO.

He won a Bowl game as the starting QB and played pretty well in doing so. If thats such an easy feat why hasn't Henne been able to do it?

I don't think AM is great but kids do grow and get better, I honestly don't think he's the liability that you do but I wouldn't be suprised to see that he still is. That said, is tsuns secondary good enough to make any team pay for a liability at QB?

So, let's say Mallett plays for Michigan. Tell me if you would agree with this.

QB: Draw, maybe Morelli because he has experience but he's an awful QB IMO
RB: Michigan, despite your love for Mike Hart
WR/TE: Michigan by a little
OL: Michigan
DL: Michigan
LB: PSU (By a lot)
Secondary: PSU (By a lot)

Throw in the fact that Morelli is the next Drew Bledsoe when it comes to standing in the pocket and remaining a stationary target, and I like Michigan's chances.

-If Mallet starts, you can't say draw at QB. Its advantage PSU, big. PSU's back 7 is a steep test for the first real defense a freshman has to go against.
-My dislike of Hart the person does not stop me from respecting his on the field ability. He is a huge advantage over the PSU backs.
-I can't say I'd honestly give tsun the edge at DL over any decent team in the country.

I agree that AM's lack of mobility helps the tsun defense but that back 7 of tsuns is so bad it only takes a little time to get the ball to someone and do some damage.

All in all I'm not sure about this game at all and said so well before this thread. We know tsun is bad but we aren't sure on PSU because as you say they have played no one. If they didn't have this very real mental stumbling block vs tsun I'd take PSU in a heart beat. They do however, posses a huge problem in beating tsun so it must be taken into account no matter how the teams on the field stack up imo.

My point was that using NoD as a comparison and ragging on PSU for beating a couple of 1-A patsies is just laughable after your team lost to a 1-AA team.

How would this have read against Appalachian State or Oregon for that matter?

I think that's debatable... Manningham, Arrington, and Mathews are better than Butler, Norwood, and Williams IMO... The UM trio is more productive and conducive to big plays...

But the PSU trio gets to go against the tsun secondary. That will flat out add inches to your dick, statistically speaking.

well yeah, but it looks like this year's michigan players fit that bill too. I guess we're arguing over the tallest midget

Looks like it ...

The way I usually decide those types of questions are to think about who I'd be the most scared about defensing... The scUM trio would be more of a worry for me than the PSU threesome...
