Yes, the NFL will like Henne's size significantly more than Brennan's......Henne has a much better frame than Brennan, I don't think its even debatable

Seriously. You think GMs will pick Henne over Brennan simply because he weighs 10-15 (depending on which sites' stats you use) pounds more? Brennan has a passing efficiency fucking almost 43 points more (186.0 vs 143.4). The passing yardage difference between him and Henne (3041 yards) is more than the season passing totals than about 80% of the starting I-A QBs. Brennan's 58 TD passes from last year are only 12 shy of Henne's 3-year career total. Brennan's completion percentage is over 10% better. Hawaii's offense better prepares him for the NFL than does Michigan's. Yet, because Henne has a slightly bigger physical frame than Brennan he's more pro material. Riiiight... :roll1:

Any GM who picks frame over performance deserves a Ray Guy punt in the nuts...

I fully expect Cissoko and Warren to make a shutdown tandem in the future (or hope anyway). Cissoko has unreal man to man ability, doesn't play his size. I'm a big Warren guy myself and I think he will step in and do a good job. Seems like we have to rely on freshmen a lot (Warren, Michael Williams) because Trent and Sears suck. Luckily for us you have about as much unproven talent at WR. Robiskie is good but still relatively unproven.
that is true to an extent, our WR's haven't proven a whole lot. Unfortunately for UM fans Trent and Sears are proven, at this point there is no doubt that they suck.......

I know, I agree with that. Just hoping Warren lives up to the hype, so we don't completely fall apart. I think we'll be okay though. Our safeties should be pretty damn good and if Warren locks down one side maybe it won't be too bad. Maybe we can talk Trent into fake being hurt for the season. Hopefully. If we're able to get a decent pass rush with EA Sports' lovechild, Taylor, Jamison and Co. they won't be all that bad. Trent looked average for the season until the pass rush stopped.

Sorry, but Jamar Adams takes some of the worst angles of any safety I've seen. Again, if these are guys you're trumpeting as being high-level, you're just making my point for me. That defensive backfield may be the worst I've seen from an upper-level Big Ten school in a long time. There's not a single one that I've seen do anything spectacular... Trent, Sears, Harrison, Adams, Englemon (is he still around?). You have a redshirt freshman and a couple true freshmen that everybody is hoping will know what they're doing early, because if not that D is going to get lit up. It won't even take a great QB to get it done.

And James Laurinaitis takes some crappy angles for a linebacker, yet everyone still trumpets him as All-Jesus status. I'll take my odds with Jamar Adams. If our starting D sets up like this: Jamison-Taylor-Johnson-Graham, Crable-Thompson-C. Graham/Mouton, Warren/Trent/Sears/Williams and Adams/Brown at safety, I'll take my chances. Our D may not be as good as yours, but I'll take my odds. They don't have to be great, they have to be good enough.

Defense wins championships, and when Henne and Hart shit down their legs like they have done the past three years in big games and your offense sputters, you are going to be SOL.

Lauranitis doesn't take bad angles, he has trouble shedding blockers(for most young linebackers that's a big issue as they adjust to the collegiate game).

You also can't compare a linebacker and a safety. A safety taking a bad angle leads to a touchdown. A linebacker taking a bad angle leads to a long gain, but most likely not a touchdown.

The rest of your defense should be good, but your secondary might be one of the weakest units among the elite teams in the entire nation.

It wasn't "great" last year and now its going to get a whole lot worse. I don't see how that gets equated to "good enough".

Any team with a good defense and a solid running game is going to give you guys fits this year.

Are they both overrated? Yes. I'm still choosing Laurinaitis much earlier in a pickup game. Laurinaitis made a long list of big plays last year to cause that overboard hype. What is behind the hype for Adams?

And if potential counts for this much, then our offense should be 'good enough' too.

Crable, C Graham, Trent, Sears all struggled against Ohio State last year. Jamison, Graham, Thompson, Mouton, Williams & Brown will all be fairly green. That's an awful lot of question marks to confidently predict 'good enough'.

Warren has plenty of natural talent, but with his inexperience and lack of size, I would not want him trying to tackle Chris or Brandon on an outside run, or trying to cover Devon Lyons. Unless something dramatic happens, Trent is probably going to allow one of our WRs to make noise as well.

Didn't Hart have 142 yards and 3 touchdowns against you guys last year?
Mike Hart
2004
vs. Ohio State--- ATT: 18 YRDS: 61 AVG: 3.4 TDs: 1
Bowl Game --- ATT: 21 YRDS: 83 AVG: 4.0 TDs: 0

2005
vs. Ohio State--- ATT: 9 YRDS: 15 AVG: 1.7 TDs: 0
Bowl Game --- ATT: 19 YRDS: 74 AVG: 3.9 TDs: 0

2006
vs. Ohio State--- ATT: 23 YRDS: 142 AVG: 6.2 TDs: 3
Bowl Game --- ATT: 17 YRDS: 47 AVG: 2.8 TDs: 0

So yes, you are correct, he's had one good game out of six. I stand by my point.

Your offense will be good enough. Your running game will be outstanding and your receivers, while a work in progress, will still be good. This isn't Vanderbilt we're talking about where if you lose a playmaker, you're screwed. Last I checked Ohio State is pretty good at reloading. Troy Smith was some anonymous 3 star ATH coming in and left with a Heisman. I think you'll be just fine. Not fine enough to beat Michigan I hope, but fine enough to kick the shit out of PSU and beat Wisconsin.
