QB: Threet, with Feagin getting some time.
RB: Brown, with Minor and McGuffie getting lots of time. I don't expect shit from Grady. Brown and McGuffie are your prototypical spread RBs.
WR: I think our top 4 WR are all candidates for a breakout. Hemingway, Clemons and Mathews are your prototypical Michigan wideouts. Great size, so-so wheels, good jumping ability. With their size, they should be decent blockers. Stonum will likely see some PT in the slot along with Terrence Robinson.

Barring injury, I really don't expect McGuffie to play this year. He's still got a lot of bad habits to break and could use a year to develop physically.

There's no need for him to play nor do I think he's that much more talented than the RBs ahead of him.

Um, he jumps people. He should start. :wink2:

Bad habits? Like .... jumping people? He'll try that some time, get leveled, and that'll be it for the jumping around.

You do make a compelling argurment.

Plus he will be working out with Mike Barwis. That's gotta make him a 99 in speed, agility, acceleration, and awesomeness for NCAA '08... which has to count for something. He already had a 99 in jumping, but you already knew that.

His worst habit is that he turns his back at contact and tries to "back" into people. Now, some have argued that his shoulder was banged up during the season, but this is still a very bad habit.

I don't think your pocket QB will appreciate his pass pro either

So.... if I can assume his shying away from contact is because he... ummm... is scared of contact... I wonder if the Big 10 is the place for him to be a running back.

My $.02

Minor has by far the most upside of the scUM RBs.
Personally I think it's McGuffie with the most upside, but he's raw as hell. I can't tell the difference between Brown and Minor half the time, except for their numbers. They're like carbon copies of each other. ESPN's got 'em listed at 6'0", 212, and 6'0", 209, respectively. Same running style. Brown looks to be ahead of Minor, but I figure whichever one fumbles less is gonna play more, 'cause they each bring about the same thing to the table.

Brown runs a 4.3, Minor a 4.5

Disagree about running style. I would say Minor is more of a physical running back, while Brown is more of a homerun hitter.

That being said, I'm not sure either have the patience or vision for a zone blocking scheme... Grady for that matter too. There is a real art to reading blocks, anticipating holes and accelerating/cutting at the right moment.

To be fair to both, neither got significant playing time consistantly when Hart was healthy. Coach Jackson didn't really help things either with his "one mistake and you're done for the game" rotation. Hopefully, with another year of learning and less pressure, both can rise to the top.

^40 times don't mean shit. Unless they are FAT they are bogus anyways. Another thing to consider when comparing speed is which player between the two carries pads better. Also quickness is agility and speed is straight line. Depending on what the coaches are looking for speed or agility. Alot of "slower" runningbacks actually read their blocks better because they have patinece and wait for holes to open. So the whole speed argument is moot anyways.
