On the Ohio State football spring prospectus, under offensive formation, it reads: "Multiple."
Of course, it's multiple. What's the alternative, "One-Dimensional?"
The big question is, with so many standout players gone, exactly how multiple can the Buckeyes be?
To answer that, coach Jim Tressel told a story from early 1983, shortly after he arrived at Ohio State as quarterbacks coach.
He and the staff were watching film of the 1982 season, when sophomore Mike Tomczak had taken over the quarterbacking reins from star Art Schlichter.
"One thing (that occurred to them) as we studied the film was, 'Did we err a little bit in asking Mike to do all the things Art did?' " Tressel said. "Because Art played for four years, and it takes learning."
