I was just about to post in this thread about the very same topic. DW3 could be the clamp when it comes to this defense. You know no one is going to throw at Malcolm, so if we had another shutdown CB...it could be a long season of offense for our opponents because I already have faith in the run D. We shall see...but confident I am.

... and then add in Kurt Coleman as a sniper back at safety picking off passes. We could push the total INT's from last year even higher. It will mostly come down to how well the Dline pressures the QB's. But, agreed, it looks fantastic on paper right now.

Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel says that junior running back Maurice Wells (34) "had an excellent spring."

The waiting room for college football playing time should have padded walls. Those who get stuck there for a couple of seasons feel overlooked and sometimes forgotten. While sitting there, though, if they looked closer at the exit sign above the door, they'd see the fine print reads "Usually by your junior year."

COLUMBUS - In Ohio State's view of the perfect world, its strength would be extensive and balanced on both sides of the ball. But the brute that is the Buckeyes football monster usually seems to have one bicep that is bigger than the other, and coming out of spring practice, that looks like the case again.

Two years ago, it was a rugged defense led by All-American linebacker A.J. Hawk that parlayed its dominant performance into a share of the Big Ten championship for Ohio State, a win over rival Michigan, and a Fiesta Bowl victory over Notre Dame. The offense was very good, but the defense, which sent the majority of its starters into NFL camps, was great.
