2007 tOSU Spring Practice (official thread)

I would be surprised to see anyone but Boeckman be named the starting QB. Schoenhoft, maybe. But I don't see a redshirt freshman starting over a 5th year. Ok - maybe it's only his 4th with the team. Either way, I think Ohio State needs a Craig Krenzel - someone who limits his mistakes, and lets plays happen, rather than MAKES plays happen. I can see an excellent win-loss record, but fans bitching up a storm for Tressel to open up his playbook, again.

My daughter indicated that Scooby Doo and Marge Simpson are looking good this spring at QB.

Okay, sorry about that. Anyways, I'm a bit more interested in the other cornerback position and the shape Steve Rehring is in. Any news on either of those topics?

I'll agree that Marge Simpson has potential, but she needs to work on her throwing motion. That 2-handed passing motion isn't going to cut it at Ohio State. She's got good speed and can break tackles. I was surprised that the coaching staff listed her at QB. I don't think she ever played QB in high school, did she?

Scooby Doo (or, as his teammates call him, "Scooby Unitas"), on the other hand, has been threading needles from 75 yards. Unfortunately, he isn't much for running with the ball. He also tends to run away when being chased by a ghost or a zombie. What's worse is that the coaching staff isn't getting any progress out of him. I'm afraid that neither will start at QB this year.

They should let Scooby sit on Marge's shoulders. She has the evasiveness to scramble for 7 minutes at a time, and Scooby can hit the open receiver, provided that there's no ghost chasing him. I'm pretty sure, though, that sitting on someone else's shoulders is a penalty.

Tidbits from JT. Of note: Moeller is now a safety, Grant has moved back to the strongside with Spitler backing up Laurinaitis at Mike. Anderson Russell will only take part in non-hitting drills. Worthington is officially a DT.

Abdallah and Mark Johnson were also mentioned, so they've apparently gotten all their affairs straight.

Spring depth chart. Moeller moving to S and Grant moving outside have been discussed upthread. Schoenhoft is now #11 and Connor Smith at center because Cordle is the third tackle and Whaley is taking reps at fullback. Coleman is backing up O'Neal at S.

Not listed:
Henton (will be in the QB battle)
Olson
B. Smith
Miller
Dublin
Lukens (may have retired)
M. Johnson (said to be coming along)
Lane
Russell (no contact this spring)
