Just out of curiosity, why use two columns for last day and spring practice? Isn't that always the same?

A question for the Experts: I was looking at the dates of Spring Practice for teams in the Big Ten. Why does Michigan State start 9 days earlier than OSU but ends at the same date? Is there a limit?
My understanding is it's the number of practices you are allowed. You might practice 14 straight days, or you might practice 14 days out of 30. I suspect there is also a rule the identifies the earliest you may begin, and the latest date you can engage in a "spring practice." but, I don't know what those dates are.. (likewise, my use of the number 14 doesn't mean I know it's only 14 practices you're allowed...)

So, MSU doesn't get more practice time than OSU. They're just dividing it up differently.

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

</IMG> ADAM CAIRNS DISPATCH The Buckeyes would benefit from having a No. 1 quarterback installed this spring, and that appears to be Todd Boeckman.

It?s spring, when a young man?s thoughts turn to, well, sightseeing on the Oval, honestly. But for Ohio State fans, the start of spring drills this week means it?s a chance to turn the page from some bad memories and start looking ahead to the 2007 season.
Dispatch beat writers Tim May and Ken Gordon take a look at five pressing questions facing the Buckeyes:
1. How will the quarterback competition play out ?
Gordon: The safe money in this race is on Todd Boeckman, who is participating in his fourth spring and should know the system inside and out. But Rob Schoenhoft is big, more mobile than you might think, and has a real competitive fire. And redshirt freshman Antonio Henton appears to fit the Troy Smith mold, and we all know that worked out pretty well the past few seasons.

That was kind of my thought process.

We shall see what the kid can do in less than a month.

Another thought, I hope that OSU has a 4th quarterback so that Henton is not changing teams all during the spring game.
