Back to this OSU defense...........

From what I have seen this season, I have noticed a little extra "something" about them. They seem to be having a lot of fun, and almost competing against one another. It's almost as if they have a "who's going to make the next big play?" mentality.........and it shows. Furthermore, they play an intimidating brand of football..........they are absolutely kicking the shit out of anyone who has the ball. Gang tackling, hitting.......fundamentals..........they have not been a problem so far this season.

If this keeps up, this defense could go down as one of the best in the past decade or two. I'm being honest........I am VERY impressed with what I have seen so far. These guys have "it".

this defense is already better than last years D

I think a lot of it has to do with the coaches, and deciding they won't go zone every single down....this team is mixing it up a bit more, and bottom line is, they just have the players

This D is fantastic!!!

The replay of the game was on late last night and I dvr'd it. I just got done watching it, and the defense is playing with a definite mean streak this year. They aren't dirty, but you can tell they aren't just out to stop you, they want to humiliate you. I like it!

Once Russell was flagged for the late hit out of bounds that gave UW a first-and-ten at our 19, the defense got pissed and pinned their ears back. If they could maintain that level throughout an entire game, few teams in the country could crack double digits on us.

did u watch them this weekend?
yes. by the end of the year, wait till u watch us. this buckeye team should get better ever week and peak just in time for scUM. I don't care if UF looks 100x better than Miami did in 2002, i would love nothing more than to enter the rose bowl as an underdog and win the NC a year early.

The biggest thing that has impressed me about the '07 D is that they don't give up big plays like in years past. Using the official box scores so far this year, here are the biggest plays for each opposing team:

Youngstown State: Rushing: 9 yards; Passing: 25 yards

Akron: Rushing: 5 yards :yow1:; Passing: 16 yards

Washington: Rushing: 20 yards; Passing: 26 yards

Without looking into what went "wrong" on those individual long plays, this defense has been spectacular! Through 3 games, our longest play given up on defense (a.k.a. not special teams) is 26 yards. How many other teams can say that?

:oh:
