who would of thought our defense would of given up 13 pts in 4 games. That is amazing. (1st string D that is)
There were a few of us around that called it :tongue2: but we'll see what happens when we start hitting some "real" teams.. Washington looks good but nothing special yet.. PSU, Wisky, UM, Ill, MSU are still around the corner..

... or the YSU FG set up by a turnover ... or the safety against Akron.

By my count, the D has given up 17 points. YSU earned one FG with a long drive, and Washington's had to drive across mid field for both their TDs.

True ppg would be about 4.25 right now.

That's a load of crap.

I agree too. We may be passing UF going in opposite directions right now, in fact. UF started off like they could do no wrong against the mighty Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky, but then they gave up 31 points to Troy. Troy. Okie State got 41 dropped on them by Troy, and that defense is beyond atrocious (look at this past week's game against Texas Tech). Ohio State and Florida both had "tests" in their third game that turned into routs after slow offensive starts for both teams. Florida racked up 59 on a Tennessee team that had trouble holding Arkansas State to 27 points. Florida then struggled against an Ole Miss team that got clobbered by a mediocre Vandy team. The offense looked pretty good when it wasn't committing penalties, but there were times where it was totally carried by Tebow. Tebow's a machine, but he's yet to face a secondary with a pulse. The Gator D has seriously underperformed, and the team has had a lot of problems with penalties (14 for 127 against Ole Miss). Ohio State obviously has plenty of questions about its team, but Florida is anything but perfect and certainly isn't unstoppable. One thing's for certain: Florida has a definite weak point in its secondary. Ohio State seems to have resolved its weak point in its offensive line play. We'll know against Penn State whether this is totally resolved, but I don't think we'll have many problems opening holes and protecting the quarterback. If these two teams faced right now, I think the only people who wouldn't give the Buckeyes a chance are doom-and-gloom Buckeye fans and the most diehard Florida fans.

tOSU is third in scoring defense at 7.25/game (LSU and Kansas are at 5.75). Without the kickoff return TD, the team would lead in scoring defense.

Checked the stats for LSU, Kansas, and Cincinnati (who is a couple tenths of a point behind us in scoring defense).

Both LSU and Kansas have given up all 23 points on defense. Cincinnati has given up all 30 points on defense. Of the 29 points scored on us, one was a KO return and the other a safety (9 points), so our defense has actually given up 20 points (exactly 5 ppg).

I'd love for the team to put a shutout up against Minny this week.

The D deserves a clean sheet (no safety, no special teams scores) and I think this is a very good week to get that scoring average down.

bingo. This defense is amazing and its 2 deep with almost all coming back next year with new blood joining. Like I posted before, this team reminds me of 2002 but, with a better offense.

The defense 2-deep has but one senior, and that's JUCO transfer Larry Grant. The secondary has but two juniors (one is CB Malcolm Jenkins, who will undoubtedly bail for the NFL after this season)...the other six are frosh or sophs.
